      Accessing prior release

After restarting NT 7.0.0.23 it worked. Do not know what caused the problem.

The installing of NinjaTrader 7 makes me always nervous. If it is does not work I canot go back to the prior version, because this cannot be downloaded or stored on my PC. - It actually can, but it is a hazzle and I am not doing it -.

So it would be absolutely necessary to allow us to go back to the prior working release, if the install process goes wrong. Just give us a link to two releases.

There likely is problem with some custom chart styles you imported. To get back to normal I suggest trying a fresh setup:
        - uninstall NT
        - rename your <my documents>/NinjaTrader7 folder to keep it as backup
        - download and install NT7 again

Next you could manually copy back your Config.xml to restore your account connections. Then start up NT, connect, open a chart etc. All should be working normally.

Next you could try to reimport/copy back the custom files step by step to isolate the culprit.

        Thanks

Not aware that I have imported any custom chart styles. What is a chart style?

Seeing it now. There are 4 chart styles. Never used any custom chart style. Only using candle sticks.

Harry, actually it can be done, and I'm doing it always. After you're giving your licence number you're directed to a download page and SETUP.EXE is downloaded and it begins to run. At this stage go to your location :
              C:\Documents and Settings\[your user name]\Local Settings\Temp\
and look for .MSI file created just now. Copy it to another, safe location, may be set it to read only and you can always install the stored version of NT7 you wish. It's desirable you'll put the file in a separate directory labeled as the downloaded version number. You don't see a version number during SETUP.

Now you may either cancel SETUP and install later, or to continue, while the install file is already stored.

I understand Ninja's policy to keep all of us at the most recent Beta, but sometimes it's painful. So here's a tweak.

                Hello,

Nice solution, thank you very much. I'll try it.

                Have a nice day,
                Joe

Thanks, I have heard this before, but I don't want to tweak it.

I think it is in the interest of everybody that you can go back to the prior release, if the new install goes wrong - which it might for whatever reasons. Otherwise it is like a Russian Roulette, no protection if the install does not work.

Just too lazy to do that for every NT upgrade.

                        I agree with Harry

I would be nervous to upgrade to the latest version if I had a profitable strategy running on the previous version.
Some sort of quick "rollback" ability is needed in case your strategy uses a part of NT they forgot to regression test, and has a new bug.
Simplest rollback would seem to be for NT to provide a link to the previous release also.

Uh is it really that hard to copy the install file from Temp to somewhere else? It takes like 2 seconds...Ctrl+C Ctrl+V, man, hard work. I think there are better ways the developers can spend their time than saving you personally 2 seconds upon each beta release.

Suppose I want to be able to go back to beta 22 if my strategy breaks in latest version.
I search in the ...Local Settings/Temp folder and find a few MSI files. None of them have a name that obviously indicates its anything to do with NinjaTrader. I can only copy/past in two seconds if there is something to copy.
