    Kinetick API

Firstly, are you OK with people using this forum for Kinetick questions? You realise there's a massive temptation to do so ;-)

I currently use IQFeed. I've read the advantages of using Kinetick over IQFeed, but, one of my most useful uses of IQFeed is to log into their API automatically and pull down the last 24 hours prices every night and do some analytics on them so they're ready for the next day's trading when I get up. (I used to try doing this with Ninja strategies, but that is frankly a real pain)

Does Kinetick provide any sort of API for historic data which can be accessed programically? If not, I can't really switch from IQFeed.

    Hi Dave1992,

    Thank you for your post.

I’m not sure I follow regarding your abilities with the IQFeed API. Can you please clarify how you automatically pull-down the data from the API, and if the analytics you are using are automatically applied as well.

The other thing with Kinetick which may get at part of the question is that from a technical perspective, NinjaTrader writes directly to the underlying server technology versus going through an API layer. This results in an optimized interface between NinjaTrader and Kinetick when compared to NinjaTrader and some other data providers.

So, while there isn’t an API exactly like that of IQFeed, we should still be able to get you setup to retrieve the same data from within NinjaTrader

Thanks Ryan. IQFeed allow subscribers to write to their API using a variety of languages. I have a java program that does that, on schedule, every evening. Ignore the analytics - they're not relevent- they're just the reason I do it - so it's all automatic overnight.

I think you're missing the point somewhat. Ninja does not support automatic scheduling of anything, and I need the data in a file every night, not in Ninja. A Ninja strategy could write the file, but they can't be automatically scheduled either.

      thanks
      Dave

        Hi Dave,
No, Kinetick does not provide an API thus you would need to stay with IQFeed.
