    Defeated by Z-Order

I have a chart with a lot of indicators on it, and I cannot get them vertically ordered the way I want. It seems that no matter what I do, at some point I'll change the Z-Order of one indicator, and one or more others that were properly ordered will pop to a different order. I tried ordering them bottom up and then top down, and neither approach worked. I even tried removing all the indicators and adding them back in order, like what would have been necessary in 6.5, and they still didn't end up in order! Any suggestions?

(I can provide a template, except a lot of the indicators are 3rd-party proprietary indicators, so I'm not sure it would help.)

Follow-up: I found a very simple example of this problem. I created a chart and added just a single indicator (ConstantLines). I can select the price bars, and I can select the indicator. (See screen shots below.) However, in both cases the Z-ordering only presents me with "Level 1 of 1". (To be clear: I select the price bars or I select the indicator. In either case, I then hold down the Shift key and roll the scroll wheel. And all I see is "Level 1 of 1".) There should be two levels, right?

Mike, thanks for reporting - I could unfortunately not reproduce with the ConstantLines applied to price I see 2 ZOrder levels to choose from as expected - are you on latest NT 7 B22 as you test this?

Have you tried the same in complete new workspace file without any chart templates applied to the core chart?

This morning after restarting NT I can't reproduce the issue with just price bars and ConstantLines either, though I still have my original problem. I'll try recreating that more complex chart from scratch in a new workspace.

Ok, please keep us posted on this - for the original one - is any indicator trying to set it's zOrder pro grammatically? Would you know?

Successfully rebuilt chart in a new workspace (meaning I got everything ordered the way I want it), templated it, and then was able to recreate the ok chart in my primary workspace from that template. Then I tossed the chart that was giving me trouble.

Bit of an annoyance, though NBD in the grand scheme of things. I will say I've seen this sort of thing crop up before, so it appears there's some subtle Z-Order issue lurking somewhere. Wish I could give you a way to recreate it....
