    historical yet again

im fed up with the various forms of problems with historical data
why is reload historical data greyed out on my chart?
why when i try and d/l in the historical data tab it says its d/l see status bar, for 1 sec and does nothing?
    theres nothing in the log
why does disconnecting and repairing d/b work sometimes, sometimes not?
why is the server not pingable?
why is ZF realtime rock solid and the historical which is not time critical hopeless?
if there is corruption or errors or millisecond disconnects why cant the server handle it when every other micky mouse porn server can?
why would a server be busy or not available? thats not an appropriate or informative error message
    thanks

        Hello poeds,

Likely you are not connected to the historical data server anymore. If you disconnect/re-connect you will re-connect to the historical data server as well. Do you see anything listed in the Control Center-->Log-tab about a disconnection regarding the historical data server from the time you got connected up till you noticed the disconnection?

Could it be you are not connected to the historical data server sometimes on re-connection? Do you notice any consistencies when re-connecting does not work?
I am not sure why the server cannot be pinged.

Please note that Zen-Fire does not support historical data at all. As a courtesy we allow Zen-Fire users to load historical data from our historical data server. Zen-Fire itself only provides real-time data.

I will forward your comments regarding the server to my superiors.

Correct, you will to have a minute chart opened to load minute data in the Histoircal Data Manager.

          Thanks for the reply
no nothing i can see its just random
the only saving chart data is mad
traders play with different charts/chart types different contracts
the option to save save LAST for a few specified contracts would solve a problem
making the server pingable also would help
do u know if this historical server is anything to do with esignal?

            Hey Jason
            close nt
            went to documents/nt7/db
            deleted db folder completely
restart nt my 2 charts e6 & es came up and in the status bar the dta dl was properly displayed and complete in abou 1 min all ok now

            conclusion is
the error server is busy not available
the momentary flash of the dl box when using historical data mngr
the grey out reload hist dta on the chart
all caused by some kind of bother in the db or the cache file and the error messages do not reflect that
repair db (many) does not fix the dta

The historical data server is not related to eSignal.

The momentary flash indicates there is no connection with the historical data server. NinjaTrader attempts to load the requested historical, but cannot since there is no connection, which results in the flash.

The greyed out 'Reload All Historical Data' is caused by no connection to the historical data server as well.

Good to hear you solved the issue by using a new database and thank you for reporting.

If 'Reload All Historical Data' is greyed out and you experience the momentary flash when loading historical data, it indicates there is no connection to the historical data server.

How do you determine you are connected to the historical data server?

Because as soon as i had deleted the db and restarted nt the data downloaded
it is so unlikely that the connection was reestablished within that 30 sec timeframe , the connection to the server must have been available but not recognized as such by nt.
I just pulled out my Ethernet cable (no wireless enabled)
after about 30 secs the connection lost message comes and the red box
right click chart and reload data is not greyed out (there cannot be a connection to any server)
select reload and the status bar appears bottom control panel stating loading data
after ab 30 secs an error box saying server connection is "broken" not "busy or unavailable"
so actual disconnection from historical server has a different result to the supposed disconnection of previously

If you restart NinjaTrader, you re-connect to Zen-Fire so you will re-connect to the historical data server as well.

Please let me know if you notice 'Reload Historical Data' is greyed out again and send me your log and files files right away. Please send them to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com. Put 'Attn Jason' in the subject header and reference this forum thread.

                        OK I will
I tried restarting many times but it did not get the historical data back.
Next time i will only delete the db cache and see if that does anything
