Possible Bug - exit on close

    Hi-

I think I might have come across a bug...when running strategies that have both "exit on close" set and have yet to go live due to previous historical positions (i.e. not synchronized, waiting until flat to submit live orders).

On close, these not-yet-live strategies will actually submit closing orders that result in new open positions, rather than doing this internally.

I had this happen the other day in two separate strategies on the close, both of which had not yet gone flat from prior historical trades.

    Hello cgeorgan,

Unfortunately this can be as expected if you are in a strategy position. Once 'Exit on close' triggers, it will submit an exit order to close the strategy position to put it flat. However this subsequently causes an account position.

      Jason-

If this is 'to be expected', then the "wait until flat before submitting live orders" functionality is broken. Clearly, live orders are being submitted before the strategy is flat.

My apologies, I was not correct in my statement. When I test it on my end, no Close order is submitted. The Control Center-->Log-tab only lists 'Exit on close handling for strategy X started', but no order is submitted. When I check the chart, it does list an 'Exit on close' execution.

Can you please send me your log and trace files for the day it occurred. You can find log and trace files at the following locations.

Start Menu--> My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> Log--> log.20101019 for today. (log.yyyymmdd for any other date)

Start Menu--> My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> Trace--> trace.20101019 for today. (trace.yyyymmdd for any other date)

Please send them to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com. Put 'Attn Jason' in the subject header and reference this forum thread.

If possible, please include an estimated time stamp.

I mean, I'll try...I can't remember what day it was this week.
