    "error loading chart data..." auto connecting to provider???

    1. My PFG feed automatically connects each time I start NT7. Is this a new feature or an error?

    Uninstalled and reinstalled both NT7 and appropriate PFG API. Problem persists.


    2. On any new charts or existing workspace - get this message.

    "error loading chart data for XXXXX-XX. Disconnected from historic data server."

    a. I use tick data and range bars - various sizes from 5 to 45.
    b. Download time period is usually 3 days = though can go up to 15 days in some cases.
    c. Have also tried using Kinetick to no avail.
    d. (in the past - Gain usually worked until the new rules were put in place - fwiw)

    I continue to get this error on numerous/all instruments. My primary feed is a PFG live account. I also have a paid data feed from Barchart. Both feeds yield this error.

    Am running both NT 7 B22 and NT 6.5 and have each running on Win 7 and Win XP SP3 platforms (the "error loading...." problem is ubiquitous to both platforms).
    (It is not the Operating System platform from any perspective that I can find as a long time beta tester for NT and WIN.)

    I do not have this problem when running PFG Best Trade Navigator - on any instruments and in either OS platforms.
    This issue seems to be exclusive to NT 7 and 6.5. Is there a solution??

    My download internet connection is 16 to 22 MB pipe and upload is 3.5 to 5.8 pipe. So know that "time outs" is not the issue.

    i am having the same problem.
    maybe the Historical Tick Data Server is not available over weekends???
    do i have the correct IP Address for Historica Tick Data Server???
    currently set to 38.115.151.248
    (which is PFG account info)

    I note Ninja instructions about "look back period" - but Ninja 7 does not have the options described below:

    "Start NinjaTrader and select the menu Tools > Options > Data Tab.
    • Set the "Tick, Volume and Range" look back period to a value of "2"
    • Set the"Minute Bars" look back period to a value of 3 "

      that is the correct historical data server. fwiw
      Have never had this problem before, the PFG feed is open as I am using the same server to download data on another computer using PFG's Trade Navigator - fwiw

      hope you are not a 'live trader' as this is affecting my weekend maintenance schedule and trading analysis for the past week.

      FWIW - Tried deleting the NT7 folder in my program files and doing a complete reinstall per a post on the installation support page. Still getting the unwanted connection to PFG on start-up, and the "error..." message. Can not get any charts to load... at this time.

        I also have the same problem. It started approximately at the close yesterday. NT7 has always been a little twitchy with PFG tick data. Now it appears to have failed completely. I even tried 6.5 but no joy. Minute data loads just fine but not tick data.

        BTW PFG carries 6 trading days (144 hours) of historical tick data. Prior to yesterday if I requested more than that I would get the "disconnected from historical data server" message. Now I just get the error message and no data regardless of the time period requested.

          Thanks for additional information. Am also having same problem with NT6.5 on tick data. Confirmed no problem on minute data for either NT7 B22 or NT6.5. fwiw

          Have successfully downloaded tick data from PFG using the Trade Navigator Standard V5.5, Build 995. The connection indicated that it is using the PFG Historical data server - though it does not designate the .248 address.

          No one is available on the PFG data site to confirm their up status. Hopefully, one of the NT Senior Members can verify where the problem resides prior to opening of the market on Sunday.

            Successful Workaround
            1. Notified PFG of issue
            2. On the PFG account connection - set "backup datafeed connection: to PFG account
            3. Check "connect on startup"
            4. Disabled Historical Data "Disabled, I will use another connection for historical data"
            5. Am using by barchart feed for historical data.

            Hope this helps other having this problem until PFG/NT get this problem resolved.

                Thank you for your post.

                Please provide more detail as to what you are experiencing. Make sure to include what version of NinjaTrader you are using & also the version number of the PFG API you have installed on your PC.

                  It is loading correctly now, perhaps the servers are unavailable for historical data on the weekends...thanks for your reply.
