Instrument Manager Issues

1) NT7 hangs when connected to Yahoo, in instrument manager for symbol "ROH", when you click "Update Splits & Dividends". Other symbols seem to work OK.

2) When connected to Google, "Update Splits & Dividends" doesn't work/update anything, but no warning is given.

3) When you double-click (or right-click) on a symbol in an Instrument List, nothing happens. It would be hugely helpful if it brought up the Instrument Editor.

4) Please allow "Update Splits & Dividends" to operate on an instrument list. It's really painful to do it one instrument at a time (see example below).

5) If you "Update Splits and Dividends" for a symbol that has no splits/dividends already listed, no splits/dividends will show in the window even though they have actually been downloaded. You need to save the instrument and re-open it to see the splits/dividends which were just loaded.

Example: I want to "Update Splits & Dividends" for every symbol in an instrument list. I would like to just click a button and do it, but that's not possible. So I would like to select the symbols in the list and update them one at a time, but I can't do that without opening the instrument in the instrument editor. So I would like to double click on the symbol in the instrument list and bring up the editor, but that doesn't work. So I have to type each symbol in, search, double-click to open the editor, click to go the second page, scroll down to get to the "Update" button, and click it. If there aren't any splits/dividends already listed, I need to save and re-open the instrument to see them. Quite a huge PITA.

Hello Kevin,

1) By default, no ROH instrument is defined. I searched it on Yahoo, but it does not list any information.

When I connect to Yahoo and set 'Type' to Stock in the Control Center-->Orders-tab and subsequently type in ROH in the Name field and hit Enter, it causes NinjaTrader to be unresponsive. Could you provide me more information about this ROH instrument.

2) I am able to reproduce it on my end. I will forward it to Development to further investigate it.

3) & 4) I will forward these suggestions to Development and ask them if they can add this to the list of future considerations of the software. Thank you for your feedback.

5) When I load splits and dividends while connected to Yahoo, they are immediately displayed in the Misc-tab of the Instrument Editor window if no splits and dividends were loaded initially. Are you able to reproduce this after a restart of NinjaTrader?

1) ROH is not an active ticker anymore, but NT7 still shouldn't hang if the ticker symbol is bad. A current example is "RDS-B" (Royal Dutch Shell), which is an active NYSE ticker but still causes NT7 to hang when updating splits & dividends.

5) This is an issue when creating a new instrument. On a newly created instrument, if you update splits & dividends, no splits or dividends will show until the instrument has been saved & reloaded.

I notice that if you are connected to any datafeed (even if splits/dividends is not supported) you can right-click an instrument in the instrument manager and one of the options is "update splits & dividends". This is a good feature that I wasn't aware of before. Two suggestions: (1) please allow the same function when clicking on a symbol in an instrument list, and (2) it will offer to update splits & dividends, and accept the command to do so, even when connected to a feed that doesn't support it. There is no feedback to show that it can't work, so this is likely to confuse people. You shouldn't offer to update if you can't, or at least give an error message that you can't.

Hello kdoren,

Unfortunately 'splits and divindends' is not supported with Google. I suggest to load splits and dividends using the free Yahoo connection.

I tested the ROH once more this morning using the same steps as before, however NinjaTrader did not became unresponsive anymore. Does the issue still persist on your end when you enter ROH in the Control Center-->Orders-tab?

When I hit the 'splits and dividends' button for the RDS-B, I do not experience unresponsiveness either. When connected to Yahoo, it loads 57 dividends and 3 splits. When connected to Google nothing happens - my cursor turns into an hourglass for a split second but I do not experience unresponsiveness.

As per 5), unfortunately this is as expected. Instruments needs to be saved first in order to display any split and dividend data.

In addition, I will forward your addditional feedback regarding splits and dividends as well.
