    Workspace saving problem

    Hello,

Although I ALWAYS save my workspace by answering yes to that prompt when you shutdown NinjaTrader, the screen position of each window didn't get saved!

But everything else like text, lines, arrows, etc is OK!

Can you help me here? I'm using NT7b22.

    Thanks.

    Hello Braulio,

    Thank you for your post.

I am not able to reproduce this window save/placement issue. Please enumerate the steps you are taking so that we can isolate what might be taking place.

    Thank you,

      Chip,

I'm doing some tests because I have to restart Ninja to replicate it. But I've noticed that if I resize/reposition a window, minimize it and restart Ninja, it goes back to the previous position before the resize/reposition.

        Braulio,

Just curious - if you specifically save your workspace by clicking File > Workspaces > Save Workspace, do you encounter the same behavior?

          Kyle,

Yes, if I specifically do that everything seems to get saved right.

            Braulio,

            Thanks for the clarification!

Can you provide me with a copy of your workspace?
You'll find the workspace in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Workspaces folder.

                Braulio,

Please open a new workspace (File > Workspaces > New Workspace).
In the new workspace, add a new chart.

After the new chart has been created, shut down NinjaTrader. When asked if you'd like to save workspaces, please answer 'Yes to All'.

Finally, restart NinjaTrader - do things in the new workspace load as expected or do you encounter the same issue?

                  Found the problem.

                  The steps are the following:
                  1. Opened a new workspace (File > Workspaces > New Workspace).
                  2. In the new workspace, added a new chart.
                  3. Moved the chart from its inception position. I have 2 monitors, so it's a large workspace, and I moved the chart from screen1 to screen2.
                  4. Minimized the chart.
                  5. Shut down NinjaTrader.
                  6. When asked if I'd like to save workspaces, answered 'Yes to All'.
                  7. Restarted NinjaTrader
                  8. Chart is back to it's inception point.

                  The problem remains.

Anyone found a good 3rd party app to save and restore window positions?

I tried this http://www.desksoft.com/WindowManager.htm but it doesnt find the chart windows for some reason. Just control panel and Dom.

                          Hi naxo79,

I'm still trying to figure this out with Ninja support, but thanks for your reply. If I cannot find a solution I'll definitely try Zmover.

                          Thanks for the hint.

Lol. Noticed now that Zmover and virtual desktops dont work so well together so workaround in my case wasnt 100% functional.

But there seems to be some problem with registering the chart-windows from NT with windows since many window-manager apps dont recognize them.

I don't use virtual desktops but I have a huge extended desktop with 2 monitors and I'm using windows 7 ultimate.
