Importing Continuous Contract Data

I tried reading this post but it didn't get me anywhere:

I have 6 months of tick data. I ran it through the historical import manager and everything ran smoothly.

Now I'm trying to create a custom symbol for that continuous contact. However, I have two problems:

1) The instrument manager keeps prompting me for a "Symbol map". I don't have any idea what to add or which brokerage to add it to since the symbol I'm creating will always run offline in the backtester.
2) When I stuff a random symbol into the Symbol map for a brokerage I don't use (just to get it to accept my inputs), I can't find the instrument that I just created in the instrument manager.

How do I create my own custom future symbol that only uses imported historical data. Please tell me step by step.

For a custom symbol to use this data, you have to change the filename of the data file.


1) Create custom symbol in Instrument manager
2) Import the file. The name of the file should match the Master Instrument that you just created.
