Using Yahoo Finance connection - cannot update DOW, ^HSI quote

Hi,

I found than when using Yahoo Finance, Google, connection,

The system cannot update the quote of some indexes data, like ^HSI, DOW.

Index of Nasdaq and SnP500 is OK!

Is there any way to fixed it?

My OS is XP SP2 x64

Hello,

It pulls up on my end. You need to add in manually to the database however as an index. To pull this up I went to Control Center->Tools->Instrument Manager. Then add button and then add the HSI as master insrument and set it to type Index. Then set default as the exchange and then goto the Misc tab and add the yahoo symbol mapping. To get the yahoo symbol mapping you goto finance.yahoo.com and lookup the instrument. The yahoo symbol mapping for the HSI index is ^HSI. Add ^HSI to the yahoo symbol mapping. Then select ok. Now your good to do. Type ^HSI to change the the new HSI instrument you have created.

I've check the setting of HSI and Dowjones index, ^HSI & ^DJI...
It's same as your suggestion.

It can load the historical data...
but it cannot pull the intraday data in "Market Analyzer" table...
Other tickers and indexes (Nasdaq, SnP500) is ok...

Yes... HSI is already closed today.

You can try to use Dow Jones ^DJI (in Yahoo), .DJI (in Google)
to test it.

Hello,

This is expected as the ^DJI does not have live streaming data wheras the GOOG does. You can tell because when you visit the page for GOOG on yahoo the quotes update in realtime wheras the DOW does not.

Yes, I know Google and Yahoo data is not realtime.

But I think the "Market Analyzer" can show the quoted data at least.

Besides, other indexes like NASDAQ ^IXIC, S&P500 ^GSPC can works.

Yahoo actually has indexs and stocks that are realtime and some that are not... NinjaTrader will pick up on this if they are. Yahoo doesnt offer DJIA in realtime therefor you will not get an realtime tick update which is required to run the MA. You would need to subscribe to a data feed provider to get this data in the Market Analyzer. These free data sorces are really only designed to pull up daily charts for stocks.

Hi Brett,

I found there the "Index data" also cannot work in "Interactive Brokers" connection.

I tried these index
____________ Symbol
DowJones-----> INDU
Nasdaq --------> COMP

"Market Analyser" cannot update the streaming data.

ps. Others Stock streaming data is ok!
