    NTv7 won't start, C++ Runtime Library Error

For 3 days in a row now, I have been having major problems with loading up NinjaTrader. it all started when I closed out NTv7 by clicking on the X at the top right of the Control Panel while still connected to both Esignal data feed and to my broker Velocity Futures with a TT connection. From that point onwards I have NOT been able to start NinjaTrader as I get a C++ Runtime Library errors everytime I start NinjaTrader. I get the splash screen like normal and then it crashes and I get the errors I have included in the images attached. Images attached. I have the trace logs.

Now every time I want to run NinjaTrader I have to uninstall and then delete all my settings and then reinstall NTv7. I've had to do this 6 times in the last 3 days. I need a stable platform to trade on, and I can't even get NTv7 to start properly consistently. This is a MAJOR problem.

    Hello,

    Thanks or your forum post.

Do you have a ticket number where we have worked on this and instructed you to do a reinstall of NinjaTrader 7 so that I may look into this further or is this your first time to contact support?

If this is your first contact to support this usually indicates that your C++ Runtime is currupt on your PC and is causing intermittant issue allowing NinjaTrader to run.

I suggest removing from the Add/Remove programs in Control panel on your PC removing Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Reditributable and then removing NinjaTrader 7 and then reinstalling NinjaTrader 7 as NinjaTrader 7 install will also reload the C++ Runtime if it is not present. Once this is done please download and install NinjaTrader 7 again, you will not lose any settings due to this procedure.

Once reinstalled please test and let me know if the issue is resolved.

I don't have ticket open with you guys as of yet. I also had no issues whatsoever before when i was running NTv7 UNTIL I closed out with the X on the Control Panel while I was connected to Esignal and TT, Since that point, all I get is Runtime Errors, the errors never happened before, only after. Which was weird because NT was working fine for a few days, but since then nothing.

Should I remove the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 ATL Update kb973923 - x86 8.0.50727.4053 as well? I also have the 2008 MS Visual C++ Redistributable as well as the ATL update for that one as well. Do I need to uninstall those as well?

I removed the 2005 and 2008 C++ Redistributables and their updates and re-installed NTv7.0.0.22. So far so good, everything is working again.

Also, is there a way to save the data in the Instrument Manager? Whenever I do a re-install it goes away and I have to go through and add the symbols to the Instrument Manager again.

            Hello,

            Glad to hear its working.

This should no go away unless you delete the NinjaTrader 7 folder in my documents. DId you delete this folder?

Also, you can backup your data by going to File->Utilities->Backup.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Ok, so NT booted up fine and connected the first time to my TT feed automatically like it should, Esignal as well connected fine. Then I tried doing a backup like you said File--> Utilities --> Backup, NT then asked me to close out any connections before doing a backup. I pressed OK, then went to disconnect from Esignal and I got the C++ run time error again and NT just shut down. I tried to boot NT again and it loaded but without my connection to Velocity that I had setup. Then when I try to connect to my Velocity account through the TT connection I set up I get the following message:

Login failed: Unable to initialize API: Configuration failed: Could not open body file.

I then removed the account connection and made a new connection and I still get the same message

NT will not allow me to connect to my Velocity account. I can still connect to Esignal, but Velocity through the TT connection cannot.

I did do a backup though and that ran fine, but still not connection to TT.

Just started NinjaTrader again and I got the same Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error, now NinjaTrader will not boot at all... back to the initial problem AGAIN.

This is all happening after I uninstalled the Visual C++ redistributables

Do you run McAfee software or another Anti-virus software? I have McAfee Total Protection running and once I turned off the "Real-time Scanning" feature the problems seemed to stop as far as I can tell. The problem seems to stem from both McAfee and NinjaTrader trying to access the same files under ...\My Documents\NinjaTrader7 at the same time. Disable real-time scanning and you avoid that altogether, a bit annoying to have to disable a part of your security system but at least I don't have the Microsoft Visual C++ errors anymore. So far so good, but it's only been a few hours since I got it working, if I have more problems I'll report them.
