Symbol map request for QQQQ +

Version 7.0.0.21 never saw this before

I get my data from IB

I click on charts enter AAPL and the chart comes up - I click on chart adn input QQQQ or say DUG and it says I need to align instrument - not like these are unknown - well anyway I go to instrument manager and enter symbol QQQQ and exchange Nasdaq and it says I need to give ti a symbpol map -- where do I do this and why -not such a hard task to just open a QQQ chart - this happens nwo wtih many symbols = just usual ones like WGO but not one like INTC

anyway I want to find out how to do this and sear4ching Symbol Map on forum gave me many pages not related.

    Thanks so much

    Hello webber,

    Thank you for your post.

NinjaTrader comes pre-loaded with the most commonly traded instruments however, you may find the need to add an additional instrument. Please follow the instructions below to add an instrument in the Instrument Manager.
    • From the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the menu Tools > Instrument Manager
    • Press the "New" button
    • *Enter in instrument specific information and select the appropriate exchange (add Default exchange for equities in addition to the actual exchange)
    • Fill in any relevant information under the "Misc" tab such as symbol mapping for your target connectivty provider
    • Press the "OK" button

    * If you wish to add an equity, this can be accomplished without following the steps above. Just open a chart (for example) and start typing in the symbol and a new instrument is automatically created.
The instrument is now added to the master instrument list. Please follow the instructions below if you want to add this instrument to an instrument list.
    • Select the instrument list you wish to add the instrument to via the "Instrument lists" drop down list in the upper left hand corner
    • Select the exchange (Default recommend for equities) as this will route orders to your broker smart routing system
    • Select the appropriate expiration date if this is a futures instrument
    • Press the "<" button to add the instrument to the list

You are now complete and can press the "OK" button.

I guess you did not read my post or I wrote it poorly

I did open intrument manager sand did steps added QQQQ- selected Nazdaq and Default - Type is stock and click ok and it asked me to set at lease symbol map value as the topic title says.

I do not know what that is or where to do it as not boxes are labeled that way.

Also when I click on chart and enter symbol like QQQQ or WGO it says unable to subscribe to market data - please assign an additional exchange to this instrument in the Instrument manager QQQQ default -- obut QQQQ is not there and I cannot add it.

      Thanks

        Hi Webber,

From the sound of it, you haven't set any symbol mapping value in the Misc tab. For the symbol map, you'll want to use the same symbol that you'd use to open a chart of the instrument within TWS.

Likewise, you'll also need to set another exchange beyond default.

So, for something like QQQQ, you'll want to enable both NASDAQ and Default.

That is exactly what I just wrote - I DID enable both NASDAQ and Default.

as to symbol map guess you mean I have to go to the right of IB under symbpl map in misc tab and enter symbol QQQQ the column is not labled so it is a guess - anyway I got added and it works nto - but strang that such a major symbol is not included. I have used this for years and never had to add a symbol except for futures when they change months

          thanks
