Adding strategies to charts

I want to try out adding a strategy to a chart in NT7 but the menu option is often greyed out.

The Help topic "Charts -> Working with automated strategies" is just a blank entry.

Can someone tell me what I have to do to make sure that the menu option to add a strategy is not greyed out?

Thank you for your post.

In order to add an automated strategy you must be connected to a data provider and have Chart Trader disabled within this specific chart.

Now when your right mouse click within your chart you will have the ability to select Strategies.

it won't plot the indicators that I set up in the Strategy Initialize() event. Is that expected?

Hello,

This should plot the indicator if it is setup in the strategy Add() method in Init(). Also, when you add a Strategy in NT7 you must now also Enable it when you add it to a chart. There is a parameter in the strategy tab when you add or edit the strategies on the chart to set the Enabled (Always defaults to False) to Enabled. Once enabled the indicator will show, please insure this strategy is also enabled.
