    Changed Desktop Size - Market Replay Dialog/Window Off Viewable Area

    FYI ...

    I had 2 monitors connected to my computer with "rotation 90 degrees" set on so that the screens were displaying in portrait mode ... desktop size 2010 x 1680. When I repositioned my monitors and changed to "rotation off so that I had a desktop of 3360x 1050 connecting to market replay did not display the "replay" dialog/window within the viewable desktop area.

    I exited and deleted my workspace files and restarted NinjaTrader an the Replay window/dialog THEN displayed in the viewable area correctly.

    Only the Market Replay window seemed to be confused by the change in the desktop size ...all other windows were displayed in the viewable area ... BUT because market replay does not have an entry in the windows task bar when it was open I could not use right click and "MOVE" feature to move the window into the viewable area...

    Have Fun..

    Mark,

    That can be the case because the workspaces save the UIs in the exact x-y pixel location. If that exact space is no longer visible, you will not see the item. In the case of Market Replay controls, unfortunately you will not be able to bring them back unless you bring back the resolution you were originally on and resaving the workspace with it in view.

    Or, as you have done, delete the workspace.

      Not Very user friendly. Checking in this case before your windows are displayed ... would definitely lower nuisance support calls and user frustration...and takes 2 lines of code...

        Thanks for the suggestion, it is already on our feedback list. Unfortunately it is not a simple 2 lines of code thing to do.

          Rectangle rect = new Rectangle(int.MaxValue, int.MaxValue, int.MinValue, int.MinValue);

          foreach(Screen screen in Screen.AllScreens)
          rect = Rectangle.Union(rect, screen.Bounds);

          Console.WriteLine("(width, height) = ({0}, {1})", rect.Width, rect.Height);

            Again, not that simple internally.

              Put the replay window on the taskbar

              Guys, the obvious solution is to give the market replay window status on the Windows task bar. This would not only solve mjc's problem (by allowing him to right-click and select "Move" as he attemtped), but it would make the window minimizable, thus eliminating the annoyance of having to constantly move it out of the way of important information. Screen space has always been a top priority for traders, and NinjaTrader has always been careful to allow their users full control over the software's screen space. Being unable to minimize the replay window is a step backwards.

              Would the development team please consider giving the market replay window taskbar status? Perhaps it could be "always on top" if not minimized. (Making it part of the Control Center window would also be an improvement, but perhaps too complex at this point.) If NT feels it necessary to remind the user that he's in replay mode, more elegant reminders could be made (e.g. the word "Replay" in NT title bars). I use market replay a lot -- it's a terrific feature. The only irritating thing about it is the window for it! (lol)

              NT7 is excellent!! Just trying to make it a little better :-) MUCH to be thankful for!!

              Thanks again!

                  Just had this issue with RC1 -- same problem as mjc4118. I use NT7 on a laptop, typically connected to external monitors. After using market replay and leaving the market replay control window mostly off screen (it takes up needed screen space), I closed NT7 and disconnected the monitors. I later started the laptop without the external monitors, turned on NT7 and could not reach the replay window (no where on screen). Closing and reopening NT7 didn't help -- nor did restarting the machine.

                  Rather than deleting my workspaces as mjc4118 did, I reconnected the monitors and moved the replay window back to the middle of the screen.

                  The best solution to this problem by far would be to give the replay window task-bar status (perhaps always on top, but minimizeable). But failing that, a less-friendly solution would be to not save the repaly window position as part of the workspace.

                  Thanks again for your help.

                    Thanks for your comments. This is on our feedback list to review after NT7 is released as a production build.
