    Frozen Charts. Common Problem

    Hello.

    I connected to Mirus Futures and my charts appeared to be updating properly. I have 3 CL 10-10 charts for the Crude market open. What I failed to notice is that of the 3 CL windows only 2 were updating. The third was frozen. The third window had my strategy attached so it was not triggering trades as no candles were drawing.

    The solution was to close the chart and open a new chart and re-attach my strategy. So now all 3 windows are updating. I have noticed this before in 7.0 and occasionally even in 6.5. It does not happen often, but it should not happen at all. If our charts are open and the data feed is connected then we would and should assume all the charts are updating properly ...if one of the charts is updating. It really is a nasty bug that some research needs to be spent on. I am sure there are others out there that have seen this type of behavior.

      Thank you for your forum post.

      It looks like from your log picture that you lost connection at 4:50 and then regained connection a few minutes after that. It is possible that this may be a contributing factor even though it seems this occured on the 12th. Also, we recommend restarting NinjaTrader overnight. Seems like you are running NinjaTrader 24/7. How many days had NInjaTrader been running, as this is a possibly contributing factor as well.

      Basically we need to find the common factor in your setup that causes this to happen as I cannot get this to occur on my side and we would need to find some sort or reproducable steps or scenario where this occurs so that development can look into.

      To help us narrow down what may be causing this issue can you please send your entire trace and log files from the application itself and reference this forum post and ATTN: Brett in the subject line.

      Control Center->Help->Mail To Support make sure Trace and log files are checked and also Workspaces.


      Also, can you please let me know about how many times this occured and did it always happen pre market I am only concearned with the times it has occured with NT7.

      And can you also let me know it it only happens to the one chart that is running your strategy?

        Hello.

        I have 2 computers running ninja here. On one machine ...all charts were frozen.

        On the computer I use for live trading ..(where I sent you screenshots from) i had CL and TF futures markets open ...3 charts for each market. ..... In both markets only one window had a strategy attached .... The chart... window with the strategy ..was the one that froze for both markets.

        On my other computer .... I did a reload historical data ...etc ... the only thing that worked was closing the open charts and opening new charts....

        Will send logs/traces later today after trading.

        Additionally ..there should be no reason if Ninja is stable that I cannot run it 24/7 ..it is like me driving my car to Florida and having to shut it down every 100 miles. If you have no memory leaks and solid code and don't raise critical exceptions that are not properly trapped .... then there is no reason it should not run. That being said ... I started ninja on FRIDAY am at 8:45 after rolling back from version .21

          Hello,

          You will find that most brokers that accept your orders reset there server once a day. This is on even the most stable of systems that they even do a restart once a day. We do advise a restart once a day for this reason.
