Suggestion: As far as I can tell, the only way to modify a data series is via the toolbar. However, on my charts the toolbar is not visible. That means that for rollover I have to change the chart properties to get at the toolbar, then change the chart instrument(s), and then hide the toolbar again. There really should be a way to change instruments from the Data Series window. For example, how about giving me a Replace option if I right-click on an instrument? This would be exactly the same functionality obtained through the toolbar replicated within the Data Series window.

Rollover issue and suggestion
Issue: In a chart with multiple data series, I know it's possible to modify any data series by selecting it and then choosing a new data series from the toolbar (with the default being to update the primary data series if nothing is selected). However, the toolbar always displays the primary data series, even when a data series other than the primary is selected. The toolbar should update to show the selected data series so it's clear what you're modifying. It's a little confusing otherwise.
Suggestion: As far as I can tell, the only way to modify a data series is via the toolbar. However, on my charts the toolbar is not visible. That means that for rollover I have to change the chart properties to get at the toolbar, then change the chart instrument(s), and then hide the toolbar again. Hello MikeInMA,
Thank you for your post.
I'm able to replicate the toolbar issue you described and will follow up with my development team.
Per the Data Series menu, you could change instruments here as well, but you would need to remove and then re-add your secondary series.KyleNinjaTrader Customer Service

Removing and re-adding data series via the Data Series window means I lose all indicators associated with the data series I remove, something that doesn't happen when you use the toolbar. Also, using the Data Series window there's nothing I can do with the primary data series, so it's useless during rollover. So again, I'm stuck with changing properties to show the toolbar, rolling over the instrument(s) and hiding the toolbar again. And I have to do that individually for every chart. That's a lot of annoying extra work when it seems the functionality you get through the toolbar could be made available through the Data Series window.

Chart templates would be appropriate if charts were being rebuilt. But it's not necessary to rebuild charts for rollover, all that has to happen is that instruments need to be updated. And that's easily done via the toolbar. Unfortunately, it can only be done via the toolbar, so it's a little inconvenient if the toolbar isn't visible.
I'd like to point out that every other function on the toolbar can be invoked some other way, so while the toolbar might offer quicker access it's no big deal if the tool bar isn't visible. For consistency and completeness, shouldn't there also be some other way to update an instrument that doesn't require the toolbar? It certainly seems so.
