    Bars not updating correctly

When I change the daily chart to a different forex pair, the last bar does not look as it should. The attachment shows a small chart that is 1440 minute, and a larger daily chart.

The last bar of the 1440 minute chart is correct, but you can see that it is different to the last bar of the daily chart. This is easily corrected by doing a Reload All Historical Data for the daily chart.

Some background: I use the Kinetick feed. I have Market Analyzer open with 20 forex pairs that are linked to a handful of charts on different timeframes. Because MA covers all my pairs with daily and minute data, I assume that ensures the database is kept constantly up to date...well maybe not, because my MA columns are updated on end of bar.

So when I move down my pairs in MA, the corresponding pair appears in my charts. I would have thought that there was a NT check when a new pair loads to a chart, that it will make sure the data is up to date.

The real issue is not having to do the reload, but not being able to trust the shape of the current bar. One becomes paranoid, doing a reload every time a pair changes on a chart, just to make sure it is correct.

This behaviour is not consistent, but happens frequently enough on daily AND minute charts to lose confidence in what you see on the chart.

    Hello astrolobe,

Could you please send me your workspace that contains the Market Analyzer and windowlinked charts. You can find workspaces at (My) Documents-->NinjaTrader 7-->workspaces. Please send it to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com, put 'Attn Jason' in the subject header and reference this forum thread.

    Thank you in advance.

        Hi Jason, Brett,
Could the fact that I am on AEST time (Australian East Coast) time be causing the problem?

          Hello astrolobe,

I am not sure if the Australian time zone is related to the issue. When I tested today on my end while my PC clock is set to AEST, I did not experience the issue. However I did not have time to leave the charts on a certain instrument for a few hours and then select a different instrument.

You mentioned in the email that the issue only occurs when an instrument is not accessed for a few hours. Subsequently you load the instrument in a chart and the current daily bar is not displayed correctly.

I will perform the same test in NinjaTrader tomorrow and let you know the outcome.

I am thinking of applying for Kinetick data for FX pairs too. Would be interesting to see what the problem is, to know that the data they provide is reliable or not for NT7.

              Hello ackchan,

So far I have not been able to reproduce the issue astrolobe has reported.

I asked him if he had 'Save chart data as historical' enabled (Control Center-->Tools-->Options-->Data-tab) by email, however I did not receive a response yet.

Do you experience this issue as well - the daily bar does not reflect proper data when the instrument is not selected for a few hours and you select it via the Market Analyzer in charts?

Hi Jason, sorry for the delay. I do not have "Save chart data as historical" enabled.

I see, thank you for clarifying.

Unfortunately I am unable to reproduce the issue on my end so far. Does the issue still remain on your end?

So it only occurs when a certain forex instrument is not loaded for a while in NinjaTrader. Subsequently you select the instrument via the windowlinked Market Analyzer and the charts do not display the current bar correctly, correct?

Have you noticed any similarities between the occurrences so far?

You description of the issue is correct.
The current bar is usually not in the HDM, therefore I assume it is cached via .NET.
I have not noticed any similarities that look suspicious yet.

Here's a long shot...maybe because the current bar is not in the HDM. So when the chart is loaded for a new pair (because it has been selected in the market Analyzer), that current bar information in the cache is used, but it is not up to date, because that pair was not active on a chart. It is only updated correctly when I do a Reload All Historical Data.
If I move to a different pair, via MA, then come straight back to the pair that was incorrect (and reloaded), it is still correct...because the cache is now up to date from the previous reload.

Hope that makes sense, just a guess of what might be happening.

P.S. Just remembered, when I do a Reload, that bar does not appear correctly until the next tick.

I will consult with Development regarding your last response. I am not sure if this is accurate.

                      Thank you for your input.

Likely, your explanation is not related.

In order to futher troubleshoot the issue, we will need to reproduce the exact same actions.
Can you please setup NinjaTrader 7, so the issue will recur. Once the issue occurs, please do not make any changes in NinjaTrader.

Proceed as follows. Close NinjaTrader and go to (My) Documents-->NinjaTrader 7. Zip the entire NinjaTrader 7 folder and send it over. Please use www.sendspace.com to send us the file, since likely it will be too large to email.

In addition, please reference this forum thread as well when sending the NinjaTrader 7 folder.
