Lost a couple of instruments in Instrument Manager

I don't have an instrument for CME Aussie Dollar and CME British Pound futures.

I tried adding them myself and then realised that the other CME currencies futures in the default instruments have 28 expiry months defined and so naturally it'd be easier if I could load the missing futures specifications somehow.

Is this a feature somewhere? Otherwise instead can I copy an existing CME future definition and rename it?

If I can't do that, then what is the effect of "Reset Instruments" button in the Options?

If I pressed it, would it delete the commissions I have set, and the symbols for the IQ-Feed provider I added?

    Thanks

    Hello adamus,

    Thank you for your note.

To get the instruments back into the Instrument Manager please go to Tools-->Options-->Data tab-->Reset Instruments-->Restart NinjaTrader. This procedure will not delete any existing commissions you have defined.

Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

      OK I'll do that.

I'm also getting "Error loading data for xxxxx Invalid symbol" for GC, N225 and BC. This is for the IB quote feed.

After resetting your instruments and restarting NinjaTrader please remove these instruments from your Default list and add them back in then let me know if the issue persists.

I have provided a link below to our Help Guide that goes over Adding/Removing Instruments.

Yes, the issue still persists. I did a reset of the instruments, restarted NT and removed and re-added those 3 symbols to my 'Futures' lists (not my default - that contains forex instruments only) but the error keeps appearing, when it is calculating the ATRs I have in my market analyzer columns.

I have set my IB connection not to return historical data in its config, and I rely on IQFeed for my history for forex - but I am not subscribed to IQFeed for futures, so this extra step might be causing problems for these symbols. I assume NT tries IQFeed first, fails and then tries IB for the history it needs to calculate the ATR?

That is correct since your first connection IQFeed provides this data it will look at the first connection and will then not look at the secoiond connection.

              Here's what I've got:

Connected first: IB with config set not to provide historical data
Connected 2nd: IQFeed subscribed only for forex

I've got a 21 period daily ATR as a column in my market analyzer.

So how did it get that historical data for the 21 period daily ATR? It has filled the column for all the futures except the 3 I mentioned.

Can you please tell me what version of NinjaTrader you currently have installed by going to Help-->About. If you do not have NinjaTrader 7.0.0.20 installed please upgrade at the link I have provided below.

Next please install IB Standalone TWS 906 at the link I have provided below.

If the issue persist please confirm you are receiving real time data for these instruments within IB TWS.

                  Hi

I don't have the Nikkei OSE Japan - I should have been using the SGX future.

Hmm. The instrument manager doesn't have SGX futures. OK, so let's forget about that one.

But GC and BC are both on my TWS screen now.

Please use the steps I have provided below to add the correct mapping and Exchange:
                    • Tools
                    • Instrument Manager
                    • Remove GC and BC from your Default list
                    • Select BC within the Available master instrument list
                    • Edit
                    • Definitions tab
                    • Under the Exchange list put a check next to One
                    • Misc tab
                    • Under Mapping put BC next to Interactive Brokers
                    • Click Ok
                    • Add BC to your Default list with the Exchange set to One
                    • Select GC
                    • Edit
                    • Misc tab
                    • Under Mapping input GC next to Interactive Brokers
                    • Click Ok
                    • Add GC to your Default list

                      Hi Christopher,

those actions had no effect unfortunately. I assume you meant that I should not only set the chosen exchange to 'One' but also select that in preference to IPE or Nymex.

By the way, BC on IB is COIL.

Could it have something to do with the contract months? BC is 10-10 by default and GC is 12-10.

Yes please keep IPE selected with the Exchange list of the Definitions tab.

It appears that the GC 09-10 contract expires on September 28th and BC 09-10 expires on September 17th however I suggest checking the exchange websites to verify the most current traded expiry.

But I am choosing BC 10-10 and GC 12-10 so that's not the reason.

I have loaded one indicator column in the market analyzer and I have both these symbols on there. I have ATR 21 on daily time frame.

These are the 2 messages I get:

Error on loading chart data for 'GC 08-10 Nymex': E,Invalid symbol.,

Error on loading chart data for 'BC 08-10 Ipe': E,Invalid symbol.,

If I add another indicator column, I get the messages again, and so on once for every indicator column.

As I said, they were there. A quick check shows that they still are there too.
