    Chart appearance question...

Have a 24 tick bar chart on the NQ ...equidistant false...currently the chart appearance looks OK ...(screen shot 1 below)...but if you scroll back on the chart the tick marks look totally different earlier in the day...horizontal marks appear broader horizontally & somewhat confusing on each bar...(screen shots 2 & 3 below)...what could be causing that ??....

Scrolling back on say a 3 seconds NQ chart the bars look similar all through the chart for today....only the tick chart looks haywire for a period of time early in the day....any ideas on this ??...

    Thanks....

    Hello Alfred,

    Thank you for your post.

Please set your Equidistant bar spacing to True within your chart properties and let me know if the issue persists.

Christopher....Changed to Equadistant True and the chart looks OK all the way through...

      Thanks...

Glad to hear that did the trick.

        Have a great day!

Well...Equidistan True charts do not work for the graphic measuring techniques I use....need to be able to measure time accurately...box bars etc...I generally use Equidistant False seconds charts but today was looking at tick charts and was wondering about the odd appearance noted below...did notice quite a few extreme spike moves early in the day....perhaps that had something to do with it ??

          Thanks...

This appears to be due to a spike in the number of trades/ticks that occurred during this time period. Unfortunately there is not a work around for the way the chart looks during this period with Equadistant set to False.

Thanks for the info....a number of the early spike like moves had a waterfall like appearance...like something was maybe haywire with the matching engine at the CME...perhaps something like that maybe affected things too...??

              thanks again.....

Was not aware of this before as have been using seconds charts pretty much so far in NT7...but it does appear that Equidistant False tick charts can look a bit erratic during high tick volume periods...below a screen shot taken at the 7am PDT report this morning. Is this something that could be or needs to be corrected perhaps ?

For myself....EF Tick charts do have the advantage that one can tailor the data (at max compression) shown on the screen a bit more carefully than with seconds charts...

                Thanks...

Unfortunately with Equidistant set to False there is not a way to make this data look smoother like you would see when set to True.
