Strange Behavior - Select Input Series

The link to the 1 minute video (for video link here) shows some very unexpected behavior when selecting an input series for an Indicator on build 20.

I figured I would pass this along before I restated/rebooted. It seems the "stay on top" for the input series selection can get a little confused under the right circumstances and does NOT stay on top but hidden under the indicator window creating all kinds of confusion. Re-producing will probably be the hard part.

Hello mjc4118,

When I test it on my end, I cannot reproduce it so far. However I do not have the MJC_PriceAction indicator listed on my end, so I do not have the exact same setup when testing.

Can you please test if the issue persists when removing some indicators or using a brand new chart without indicators. Does it only occur when connected to the Market Replay connection as well?

Please send me your custom indicator, so I can import it on my end and use the exact same setup.

Instead of just sending me the custom indicator, could you please send me your entire (My) Documents-->NinjaTrader 7 folder. Please zip the folder first.

I do not think it is the indicator.
Bertrand has a copy of that indicator also I beleive. But this is very intermittent. This is only the 2nd time I have seen this happen since version .20 was released. I was editing a strategy for over 2 hours then nociced strange stay on top behavior. Reproducing will be the problem.

Also...
Once I restart Ninja the problem goes away and It may be 7 or 8 days before I can get it to do it again. Probably one of those hard to track down elusive issues, I just wanted you to be aware of it. It will be a devil to track down.

I see, thank you for clarifying. Could you please send us your (My) Documents-->NinjaTrader 7 folder, so we can further try to reproduce the issue on our end.

Did you notice any similarities when the issue occurred?

Here is some short screen capture movies with more strange behavior that I encountered.

I will simply post them here instead of making many treads as they are all related to the strategies.


Issue 1 - Replay allows playback of days BEYOND end date

Issue 2 - Cannot enable strategy (probably difficult to reproduce)

Also. I am now getting a consistent number of exceptions while connecting and testing different permutations of the same strategy on MARKET REPLAY I can send you the logs if you want them.

Hello mjc4118,

Please note that Market Replay data you download is timestamped on EDT time zone. If your PC clock uses a time zone earlier than EDT, the Market Replay data will be plotted after midnight.

I tried to reproduce the 'strategy enable' issue, however I could not reproduce it so far. Does the issue recur after you restart NinjaTrader?

Do you recall what steps you performed before you were unable to enable strategies?

Could you please send us your entire (My) Documents-->NinjaTrader 7 folder as per post #6. It will improve our chances to reproduce the issue on our end in order to troubleshoot it further and fix it.

The strategy enable issue happed on 2 different occasions 8 days apart ..may never happen again. elusive little creature.

my time zone is: (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)
this behavior with the strategy going beyond the current day is something i noticed only since updating to version .20

Can you please right click the Market Replay control window and select 'Available Data'. Please check what begin and end times are listed for each day.

Do you replay data after the end times indicated under 'Available Data'?

Hello mjc4118,

I set my PC clock to US Eastern Time and I downloaded Market Replay data for 8/17, 8/18 and 8/19. When I set the To and From dates to 8/17 and 8/18 respectively, the 'Available Data' window included data from 8/19 as well.

I will forward your findings to Development. Thank you for reporting.
