Only one candle plotting for "Vol" instrument

Getting only a single 1 min candle plotting for "Vol" ($VOLD in eSignal) tried playing around with different session templates but no change.

DeskTroll, can you please post a screenshot of what you're seeing? If eSignal doesn't have any historical data for this symbol, your NinjaTrader would start by building the first 1 minute bar, and then for every minute that passes, it will start constructing a new bar. How long did you have the chart open? Did you try reloading the historical data by right-clicking on the chart and selecting "Reload All Historical Data"?

Have it open for 45mins, yes tried reloading historical data several times. No new candle is plotted, just one candle gets repainted every 1 min. Never posted a pic here b4...asking for url?

DeskTroll, I just connected to our eSignal connection and $VOLD was not a valid symbol. Are you looking for the NYSE Down Volume? I looked at the eSignal index page, and $VOLD was not listed - perhaps you're looking for $DVOL and/or $UVOL?

Hi Austin, no I'm not looking for the up/down vol., as I understand it $VOLD is up minus down vol. printed as a single index. When I added it in the symbol map at eSignal as $VOLD I started getting data except only printing as a single candle. I know others that use it as $VOLD from eSignal. I've attached a pic of what I get.

            Thanks

DeskTroll, I see what you're saying now. I have the same results you do on my chart, but there are actually many "candles" being plotted. Each of the little lines represents a full candle, but the open, high, low, and close values are exactly the same for each bar.

We recently added support with the eSignal adaptor for other, similar indicies, such as $TVOL, $TVOLA, and $TVOLQ. Could you please try with one of these symbols and see if the same behavior occurs?

                Hi Austin,

After reading this thread http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/forum/showthread.php?t=5009 I changed the tick size from 0.01 to 10 for ^Vol ($VOLD) and now seem to get a correct plot.
Try it on your end and see if you get the same.

UPDATE: This morning when I opened the chart I was getting the same single point lines as before and as you mentioned. (OHLC printed at same price point) When I opened the instrument manager to check the "Vol" settings to be sure the tick setting was still at 10 I got a NT must shut down message.

DeskTroll, I also got an error message when trying to edit the $VOLD index in the Instrument Manager. Can you please post your trace file from today (from My Documents/NinjaTrader 7/trace) so I can see if it is the same error?

Austin, had to split it into two files.

                      Thanks

DeskTroll, thanks for the files. This is indeed the same error I was receiving - I believe it has to do with the starting price for the Simulated Data Feed. I'll forward this on as a bug report to the developers and see what they have to say.
