    Symbol error

Currently using version 19 with zenfire demo.

I have tried adding PL 10-10 (platinum) . I am able to create the symbol, however when I try running a strategy on it i get 'Error on loading chart data.... no data available'
I am unable to bring up a chart or a DOM for this contract, however the strategy seems to be running ( I got an entry and an exit at prices that seem to match the current market prices.)

Does this error mean I have set up the contract incorrectly?

I also have a similar problem with RB 09-10. I receive the same error, but am able to receive the last traded price on the DOM, but no chart and strategy doesnt send order to this contract.

maninjapan, I've also used RB, and there is simply no historical data stored on the data server, so that is why the chart doesn't load for it and gives an error.

The error "... no data available" means there is no data on the historical data server, but that shouldn't stop it from running with real-time prices and data.

As for PL not receiving data, what settings did you input for the instrument in the instrument manager? I just created the PL instrument, set a tick size of 0.1 with the mapping of PL for Zen-Fire (Nymex exchange), and I was able to receive data for PL 10-10. Please see the attached screenshot.

Understood on not receiving historical data, but Im still only receiving last price, not Bid and Ask for RB. Im receiving Bid/Ask for everything else.

Still not getting anything for PL. Have the settings exactly as you have, except that I have manually defined the next couple of contract months.

maninjapan, please try without the manually defined contract months in that case, since that is the only thing different between our setups.

How do you have your RB contract defined? I set it to a futures contract, 0.0001 for tick size, 42000 for point value, Nymex for exchange, and RB for the Zen-Fire mapping.

Are you sure the bids/offers aren't just extremely far away from the last traded price? When you select RB 09-10 while in the orders tab of Control Center, do the prices update there?

Removed the contract month definitions and not recieving any data at all now.
My setup is now the same as yours.
When I try to select the contract in ORders, it shows n/a.
In the log it has a yellow line Category is Default, Message is Data.MarketData,StartNow: Exception caught........... 'RBU0'......

Im using Japanese language windows, not sure what the .......... means, something about a definition key????

Restarting seemed to fix it, thanks. I now seem to be recieving the data ok. The Problem now is, when I try to run my strategy on HO, PL, NG or RB (all of these show the 'no chart data' error) No orders appear even though the strategy is active. IT works fine on other symbols. The strategy doesnt use historical data. Its all calculated on the current bid/ask.
Are there any settings I can change so that it doesnt try and retrieve any historical data?

The strategies will need the appropriate number of bars built before they will start trading, which will need to be built from the incoming real-time data. How long have you tried running the strategies for? To test it out, you could, for example, run it on a 2 or 3 tick chart during a heavy trading period to see if that generates enough bars. You can also set the "days to load" to 0 to not load any historical data.

Recently, I started dabbling with HO, RB, and CL and I also ran into some funny behaviors while trying to run a strategy to collect the crack spread price information, but the problem magically went away, so I'm not sure what fixed it.

Lastly, there actually is a setting that you can change so NT doesn't try to get historical data. It can be found under Tools -> Options -> Data -> uncheck the "Get data if available" box.
