Remove Strategy bug

Keys: ControlCenter > Tools > Edit NinjaScript > Strategy
When removing a strategy, the busy wheel does not show constantly during the deletion process, causing confusion for the viewer.

Camdo, can you please clarify? I just went to delete a strategy and my cursor showed the busy hour glass for roughly 95% of the time it took to actually delete the strategy.

There are 62 strategies, of about 200 lines each, listed in the directory.
It takes 27 seconds for NT to remove a strategy.

Elapsed time cronology:
0 sec start remove process, busy wheel visible
3 sec busy wheel disappears
13 sec busy wheel reappeaars
16 sec busy wheel disappears
25 sec busy wheel reappears
27 sec busy wheel disappears, strategy removed from list, remove process done.

My computer is dual core Intel E6300 2.8 Ghz, with 8GB memory, Vista 64

Camdo, is your strategy a particularly large strategy? Going from the specifications you've listed for your PC, your computer shouldn't take so long to delete your strategy. Would you mind sharing your strategy so I can test this out on my end?

I just created a simple shell strategy and was able to delete it in five seconds with a P8600 2.4GHz, processor, 4GB of memory, Windows 7 Business 32bit, and a typical spinning hard drive.

The delay occurs when deleting any strategy from the list.
None of the strategys are long or complicated.
I would have to upload the entire directory to you.
Unfortunately I don't have a zip tool on this PC.

I would think if you took a 200 line strategy and duplicated it 62 times, you would get a similiar circumstance.

As I recall, the time to remove a strategy increased noticably several revisions ago, but not as severe as now.

Camdo, if you are running Vista, there is a built-in zipping tool. You can simply right-click the strategy folder -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder.

If you don't want to send in the strategy folder, I will try creating 62 strategies and see if that causes the lag.

Hello again, I was told that deleting strategies can take some time, so it is advised to just let NinjaTrader do it's thing while deleting a strategy.

PS. I compiled all your strategies and it took me the same amount of time to delete a strategy - roughly 4 seconds.

There must be something wrong on my end then, since it takes me 27 seconds to delete a strategy.

Any suggestions?

My origonal motivation for this report was to suggest that the busy wheel or something should remain visible throughout the removal process regardless of how long it takes. It is confusing to the viewer as to when the process is complete. The viewer can inadvertantly add a lot of clicks not realizing the process is still ongoing.
