Horizontal lines both on the foregrnd. and in the backgrnd. of charts in a workspace?

    Hi,

I have a workspace with linked charts where I noticed that three of the charts have the horizontal lines in background and two of them have them on the foreground. All the charts have been set up with the same template.

Could you please tell me why it is so? I have tried to find settings to control this, but without luck. As first choice I would like both lines and chart indicators to be in the background, but it would be nice if there are settings which controls this.

I have added a picture which shows two of the charts with the different horizontal lines.

    Thanks,
    Laurus12

laurus12, the concept of which "layer" the draw objects are on is called z-order. You can change it by selecting the object, holding down the shift key, and then moving your mouse wheel forwards and backwards.

      Thank you very much Austin.

Now I am really impressed! I get it. The depth of z axis. I have now found it in "Help". This will really come in handy.

      Thanks,

        Hello again,

I have checked out the z-order feature, but can not to get the set order of the indicators on a chart to a template for applying the same order to another chart. Is there a way to do this? In this case multiple Moving Averages.

        Thanks,
        Laurus12

Laurus, I was able to successfully save a template with a specific z-order attached to the indicators and re-load that template. This is what I did: set the z-order of the indicators/draw objects, right-click chart and save template as new template, open up a new chart, load the saved template. Are you doing anything differently?

            Hello Austin,

Thank you very much for your follow ups. And thank you for forwarding the matter of upticks and downticks directly as a feature request. I am impressed by many of the features in NT and I think the latter would bring the platform even closer to the absolute best there is.

Regarding the z-order I have tried what you mentioned with setting up a fresh chart and then applying the template to another fresh chart, but it will still not completely do the trick. To me it looks like that the z-order are not completely saved in the template.

Another thing that would be useful is if new objects could be added to the highest layer number. Just my thoughts since the way it is now the first layer gets pushed into the background when adding a new object. An option to "Set new objects in forground/background" in chart properties would be useful.

            Thanks,
            Laurus12

laurus, is the inability to save the z-order to a new template reprodicuble? If so, can you please list the exact set of steps you take that result in the z-order not saved? This will help us isolate the issue. Thank you.

As for your suggestion, it is a good one and I will send that in as well.
