    RemoteSoft problem

    Some of my clients cannot import a ZIP I've created using the RemoteSoft Salamander. This has just started as of beta19 of Ninja.

    I create the zip the standard way...thru the Export NinjaScript feature on the platform. The zip contains 4 files:
    Info.xml, TheIndicator.cs, TheIndicator.X64.dll and TheIndicator.X86.dll

    But, when the client tries to import that zip...the import error pops up (see attached screenshot).

    Now, what's interesting, is when I try to import that ZIP into my platform, it imports fine. The difference being??? My guess is the difference is that I have RemoteSoft on my computer and the client does not. Let me explain what leads me to this conclusion.

    When I look in the Custom folder for NT on my machine, I find a new DLL has been placed in there...one that was NOT present in the ZIP file. The new DLL is named "TheIndicator.dll".

    So, it looks like the import process is creating a new DLL...and that new DLL will only be successfully created if the computer has RemoteSoft available. If RemoteSoft is not available, then the error message makes sense.

    Let me know ASAP about this one...perhaps I'm missing something?

    sbgtrading, are you exported those protected assemblies using B19 and Protector 3.1?

    Are you clients also on B19 then as they try importing those files?

    Perhaps you can send a file for testing to support at ninjatrader dot com Attn Bertrand so we can try on a machine not using Protector.

      I'm running b19, my RemoteSoft .NET protector is coming up as v4.0, dated 3/10/2010.

      I have 2 different users reporting this problem, on 2 different ZIP files. One of the users is confirmed beta 19 user and is trying to import a beta19 generated zip from me. The other user (who sent me the screenshot that was attached to this original message), was trying to import a beta18 zip into a beta19 platform.

      I'll email you the b19 zip file that is not importing into the platform.

        I believe you want to use v3.1, not 4.0. I haven't had a problem using that version.

          4.0 is what was supplied, by Remotesoft, back in March of this year, to correct a problem that NT beta15 had.

              Thanks for the info mrlogik...now I have the nightmarish task of trying to hail RemoteSoft customer "support" via email. LOL. Thanks for the info. Bertrand, let me know if you have any input on this.

                sbgtrading, mrLogik is spot on, 3.1 is the supported Protector version you should currently use with NT7.

                  Do you have the download link for this version from RemoteSoft, since everyone has such a difficult time getting in contact with them.

                    In the middle of their main page (http://www.remotesoft.com/), there's what appears to be some patch code. It's in the entry dated "Oct-07-08". I've downloaded it and I'm experimenting with this "patch".
