Issue with Control Center / Orders tab does not work

    Hi all,
In some cases, after a new start of NT, the Control Center / Orders tab (Executions tab same) does not work.
No Order appears in this tab but the order engine works because I can see them in the logs.
To solve the situation, I had to restart NT.

Currently V7b19 but I have the same behavior from b15 and on different machines.
    Thanks for your help,
    Nextjob.

    Hello nextjob,

Can you please tell me to what connectivity provider you connect in NinjaTrader.

Did you notice any similarities between the occurrences so far? You mention it can occur after a new start of NinjaTrader. Coud it be you were forced to restart NinjaTrader due to an error the previous session?

Datafeed is ZenFire (evaluation) + simulation.
It always happen after at NT startup.
Yes you are right, most of time this new startup happens after a NT crash (with the NT popup), but I am not sure 100%....

Can you please send me your trace file for the date the crash occurred last. You can find trace files at the following location.

Start Menu--> My Documents--> NinjaTrader 7--> Trace--> trace.20100730 for today. (trace.yyyymmdd for any other date)

Could you please inform me about the circumstances when the crash occurs. Does it occur on start-up, perhaps after you perform certain steps or does it appear all of a sudden?

I join trace for today. Most of time the crash happens when we manipulate ninjascripts : Edit NS, Compile enable/disable, apply on a chart.
It could happen after the WE with no crash.

I do not know if there is a link but after a crash we have sometimes Orphan NS strategy. I mean Strategy that can be seen in Strategies tab but they are not linked to the corresponding chart. As a consequence the calculations are totaly false (for example ATR = 15 instead of 116...)

I checked the trace file and it listed a crash that occurred at 10:16.

              2010-07-30 10:16:03:519 ********* exception trapped *********

2010-07-30 10:16:03:519 at NinjaTrader.Strategy.Trade..ctor(Execution entry, Execution exit, Int32 quantity, Boolean includeCommission)

It occurs 2 minutes after historical data for the FDAX and FGBL is loaded.

Can you please tell me what steps you performed at this time. Could it be you manipulated a script at that time?

If so, can you let me know what exact steps you performed, so I can test it on my end.

Difficult to say... The next time I will have this kind of problem I will notice exactly the context but 90% occur with NS manipulation, I do not remember if it was enabling, restarting a strategy...

Ok, please let me know what steps you performed if the crash recurs.

                    Hi Jason,
It happens again. I join the trace.
The situation is very classic :
                    1. In Strategies tab, I disable a strategy.
                    2. In the Chart, I increased the number the number of contracts.
                    3. In Strategies tab, I tried to re-enable the strategy = NT crashed...
                    Regards,

                      Hello Nextjob,

I tried to reproduce the crash you experienced using the steps you report, however so far I am not able to reproduce it.

Could you please test if the crash occurs when you use the SampleMACrossOver strategy.

If not, can you please send us the strategy you used. Please send it to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com. Put 'Attn Jason' in the subject header and reference this forum thread.

                        Hi Jason,
The problem does not occur all the time if I enable/disable a strategy (If yes it would be a real big problem !) but as I told you it always happen in NS Strategy.
I think the problem occurs when a strategy have run since a long time, for example after a WE, on monday morning it could happen.
I will try to apply the SampleMACrossOver strategy in the machine during the next week and I will send you ASAP one of my strategy for you to evaluate a possible code issue.

For example, at this time I create my own log file directly with File.AppendAllText and I add new logs with the same command. I do not use StreamWriter, I do not use Dispose to release resources. Could it be an issue ?

                        Regards,
                        Nextjob

                          Hello Nextjob,

I am not sure if this could be related. Please let me know if the crash occurs when performing the steps you reported using the SampleMACrossOver strategy. No need to run it an entire week - just perform the steps you described using the SampleMACrossOver strategy.

If you do not experience the crash, please send me your strategy that resulted in the crash.

                            Jason,
I will perform these test next week but don't forget that the problem does not occur all the time I enable/disable a strategy...
                            Have a good WE,

Sounds good, I will await the outcome of the tests.

Have a good weekend as well.
