    dangerous issue

I just started NT after upgrade to 7.0.0.19 and resumed a live simulation on sim101 account -

result: after enabling some strategies there came a flood of identical error messages pop up: "Order has exceeded available account equity: please reduce order size".

NT kept trying to send the order nevertheless infinite times and the pop ups came every time.. until NT crashed - I tried it with being connected to IB and then to Gain, with TWS started and then only NT without TWS running - every time the same result, the trace became 80MB in size in a few minutes...
NT can almost not be terminated via Taskmanager in that state, because the popups come too fast and cover the Taskmanager window / the Taskmanager safety question "Do you want to end "...(process).."

Last week I had a similar issue with NT 7.0.0.18, but the reason for rejection was a different one, same result!
I suggest you implement a panic button somwhere on NT control center to be able to kill the application/NT-Process in case of emergency. Imagine things like that happen with live orders....

    I sent trace and log.

I was able to reproduce on a different computer, seems to be a bug - when a strategy tries to send an order that exceeds available funds, the error messages (pop-ups) keep coming infinite times - instead of only once - what was the case in some earlier versions

        Hi Brett,

I did send the relevant files earlier as stated in my first post, I think i put the link to this thread in the subject line for reference.

It is clearly not strategy related, since I can reproduce with seemingly any strategy (need to be able to determine the tradesize in the parameter to trigger it) - e.g. use a crossover and for tradesize u take 10 million, while in your settings you have intial cash of 100.000 - this will trigger what I described.

There seems to be more about it, since that NT behavior of endless pop ups occured also under different circumstances, not related to account equity, but rather to rejected orders. Means NT can produce hundrets of pop ups when orders are being rejected for whatever reasons.

For reproducing on other PC I reduced inital cash:

After pressing OK, the value in inital cash is shown as the new value I entered, but it has no effect on the strategy, NT needs to be restarted so those changes have affect, same with increasing the Initial cash. Maybe a bug, not sure if that is meant to be that way - there should be a warning that NT needs to be restarted, or the value should be accepted as displayed for strategies.

I am experiencing the same problem with popups even after increasing the initial cash and restarting NT - I am not able to close a very big open position - neither with the "Flatten everyghing" command nor with "close position" command after right mouse click on position. The P&L is positive. NT should allow to close open positions - even if the position size has a larger value than specified somewhere. Imagine u enter a position using all your available cash, then the position makes good profit, but you are not able to close it anymore...

The only solution now is to reset the SIM account and loose all strategies in the strategy tab? Or what options do I have?

              Hello,

I have not heard back from the email I sent you. Best is to follow up via email once I recieved the full traces including log file that I requested to double check this is the case.

However this is most likely where the error is coming from as this is how most market work you need to have margin avaliable to cover an exit positions. There is a case where in real market conditions where you can get into a position and be unable to exit a position based on not enough margin in account based on open orders out there and in this case in a live situation you would need to contact your broker to exit the position and this may be what your seeing.

We would need to take a look at the order size your using and also look into the error messages you are recieving in the log to verify this however.

                  Hello,

Gotcha. Lets stay in the email that way things do not get confused between the issues in each. I will wait for your responds on email with a few questions I had for you. Then we will to continue to follow up only there to prevent any confusion.

                  Thank You.
