NT7 or NT6.5 for live trading

Hi,

I've been trading live with NT6.5 for a few years, so far so good.

I would like to see if it's the right time to migrate to NT7 for live at the moment, as it's still a beta. Many thanks for your advice.

Thank you for your forum post.

We are getting closer to launching NinjaTrader 7 as our production release. However it is still in beta, as if you choose to use it for live trading there is a higher degree of risk should a bug be encountered. Other users may be able to chime in here with there experience with live trading.

NinjaTrader 7 is in the later stages of beta testing and the public beta has been released and is available at the link below. There is no release date for NinjaTrader 7 yet. I recently tested live trading using the same NinjaScript strategy on both versions:
NT 7.0.0.18 traded 7 times and failed 7 times.
NT 6.5.1000.16 traded 7 times and failed 1 time.
All failures related to strategy positions not updating correctly.
Equity instruments and MBTrading were used.

It would be interesting to know of other traders reliability rate knowing
brokerage house, instrument type, and if NinjaScript used.

I have always wondered if changing brokerage would make a difference.

For NT 7 Beta 19....does trading live with a simple ATM Strategy seem to work OK ??

I take it these are trades placed from a NinjasScript strategy. Seems like you need to make some code modifications to make your code from NinjaTrader 6.5 compatible with 7. Please contact support at ninjatrader dot com if you need assistance with getting these orders to be submitted.

Hi Bret,
The code was actually converted from 7 to 6.5 manually. It is a short simple program.
I did not want to stray too far from the origonal subject of this thread. The comparison is that 6.5 runs better than v7..19, even though both are not perfect.

What I would recommend is that you send your strategy in to us to support at ninjatrader dot com. There is something incorrect with a strategy in most cases if it does not generate any orders. We would be able to take a look at it since it is reletivly simple and provide answers as to why there is an issue in 7. Please reference this forum post when you send it in.
