Avg Cost in Ninja after scaling in - different than IB

I'm wondering how Ninja computes the average cost when scaling into a trade. I see that Ninja & IB compute it differently, and sometimes I suspect that Ninja has an incorrect cost basis but I'm not sure. note the average price is different too.

Here are the trades I did:

if I compute it myself I get the same price as IB's 1090.625 (IB includes commission). Ninja says 89.50 which is 1/2 pt off.

      Hello cunparis,

Can you please tell me if you disabled or enabled 'Use FIFO for position avg. price calculations' at Tools-->Options-->General-tab.

This option will have effect on the average entry price when scaling in/out. I suspect you have it disabled.

I tested the option both enabled and disabled.

      Enabled
      2 sell orders at 1250.75.
      Scaled out 1 contract
      1 sell order at 1252.75
Result was an average entry price of 1251.75

      Disabled
      2 sell orders at 1257.00
      Scaled out 11 contract
      1 sell order at 1259.00
Result was an average entry price of 1257.75

I suggest to enable this option and check if the average entry price is reflected as expected.

        I will try with enabled.

What I'd really like is for the profit I took to be included in the calculation to reduce my cost basis but I don't think that is an option.

Sounds good, please let me know if it works as expected. If the option is disabled, it will use the following to calculate average entry price: 1257 + 1257 + 1259 / 3 = 1257,67 rounded to 1257.75.

Unfortunately such an option is not supported.
