    NT7 Historic Data Loss

Not sure how I can replicate this but I have lost the last two years of equities data.
I was performing a walk forward optimization (i was connected to my data feed when doing this - eSignal) and noticed that it's only displaying the last 6 months in the results. My Data provider provides only 6 months of downloadable minute data). I have had migrated from NT6 approximately 3 years of data and all was fine up to now.

Everything was working fine up until the walk forward optimization, I received an error that told me NT7 would have to shut down (can't remember what it was now) and since then the historic data is gone. It's still available in NT6 but I have no way to migrate all my data over, unless doing it one at a time - exporting to txt files.

Is there any way to check what had happened, migrate the data from NT6 to NT7 without having to do it one at a time?

    Thx,

    Hello,

Thank you for your forum post.

We would be interested in taking a look at what occured here and if needed reimporting all your data from 6.5 again.

Please send a note to support through the program Control Center->Help->Mail To support and reference this forum post.

Then checkmark to include all files including Trace and Logs/Workspace/Database.

I look forward to assisting you further.

        pureporsche,

I am seeing a lot of errors in your trace files.

Can you please describe the steps you take to backtest your strategy and then what you do afterwards? Are you receiving any popup messages? Anything in the logs tab while you run the backtest or does it seem like everything is fine besides the data?

Most of the errors seems to be related to something going on as you use one of the grids in the Strategy Analyzer. Also, can you try reproducing this with SampleMACrossOver?

Well one of the issues, that I believe I didn't have before, is that every time I go to a new line item in the Optimizer tab, to look at the report line items, with graphs cumulated profit selected, it reloads (downloads) the instrument data. I have to disconnect from eSignal in order to be able to view this quickly (line item one at a time).

Lets say I have a report of 1000 line items from an optimization, when I click the next row item, and then the next row item, in the list, I'm left sitting for a minute before any information displays in the panel below as the data downloads on every line item click.

In order for it to be instantaneous I have to disconnect from my data feed.

There were many more errors that appeared, however I don't have time to start to try to replicate them. What I will do is every time a new error appears I will list it here.

            pureporsche,

If you ran your optimization to a date that includes today, any time you switch to a chart with that it will request data. I suggest you not run your tests up to the current day and leave it at the prior date otherwise the data request will be done to try to fill in the most recent information.

For new errors, please open a new thread and report them on a new thread. This way it keeps different unrelated issues separate and easier to handle. Thank you for your efforts.

Also, for this particular case, development believes it may be related to your particular strategy. Would you mind sending that in with your optimization/backtest settings so we can try running it on our end? Thanks.

                Hello,

What log errors do you recieve when you attempt to run the script? These will be found in the log tab of the control center.

I look forward to assisting you further.

praetorian, this looks like a volume spread - there may be a few indicators in the NT7 forum library that do just that. Alternatively try importing it by coping and pasting the code from and ediit screen in 6.5 to 7. This will point out the errors. I find most of the problems with importing NT6.5 to 7 lie in draw methods, like "drawRay"

                        Hello,

Please follow the instructions below to see where the errors are coming from after compiling the indicator. This will allow you to debug the indicator/strategy or remove it from your PC. If you are wondering why you receive an error when compiling only one indicator, it is because NinjaTrader compiles all indicators and strategies- not just one.

                        Open NinjaTrader
From the Control Center select the Tools menu--> select the Edit NinjaScript menu item--> select Indicator
Select an indicator and double click on it.
A new window will appear and you will need to right click in the window and select Compile to compile the indicators.
At the bottom of the window a new section will appear were you can find the error locations.
From there you have the option to remove the indicator or debug it.

Let me know what errors are listed here or take a screenshot.

To send a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screen shot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CRTL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save as a jpeg file and send the file as an attachment.

Please doubleclick on the error and see which part of the code needed addressing to make it ready for NT7 -

Contains critical information including but not limited to migration, installation, connections and changes.
