Optimizer simply needs more work

Every optimization has several iterations within that single optimization run. Each optimization run will pull data if the load data rules are hit. http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...HistoricalData

So if it takes a few minutes for one iteration to complete then you would see loading data again on the next iteration.

It seems to me you are testing with an end date of today?

Yes, I haven't changed the end date. Would it make a difference if I just used a prior date for the end date?

Yes, I expect you would not get any bars loading requests when done with such a setting since you already have that data.

Ultimately I was always pulling in data that ended the day prior to the current day.

How about this idea for locking up -

I realized I was both running the same instrument/strategy combination in "simulated live trading" as I was running in the optimizer.

Right now, I've turned off the "live sim" version of anything I'm trying to optimize, and having better luck in terms of the optimizer not locking up.

Hmm. Running in real-time while optimizing on the side should not really have an impact as they are different instances.

I've noticed that even when I set the final day's data to be the prior day, my bar requests (the ones you see in the status update bar) are constantlly trying to get the current day's data to 11:59:59 PM...

Please try one day ahead of yesterday. I believe you are still pulling today's data based on the session template you are using which has sessions crossing two days and thus it would grab from both.
