Deleting Tick History

Hi,

I've accumulated a large amount of tick history that I don't need for backtesting - over 80,000 files worth (taking up 846 MB).

How can I get rid of this tick history - can I just delete the files ?

Hi BAltman,

You can delete it at "Tools>Historical Data Manager>Edit tab>Right click" to delete all instrument data or expand an instrument then right click.

This will remove it from the hard-drive as well.

Is there a way to just delete the tick history for a given instrument/day and keep the minutely, hourly, and daily data ?

Hi BAltman,

If you go to Tools-->Historical Data Manager-->Edit you can find the instruments you wish to remove the tick data for. Then you can expand the instrument by left clicking on the plus arrow.

Then you can view the different types of data and expand that. In there tick should be its own folder. You can then right click and select Delete for the tick data only.

Deleting the tick data this way would be very tedious - I have tick data on over 90 contracts.

Can I just go to My Documents\NinjaTrader 7\db\tick and delete all of the subdirectories under it (without messing up some other internal Ninjatrader database) ?

BAltman,

Removing tick data from the My Documents-->NinjaTrader 7-->db-->tick is the alternative to the Historical Data Manager.

This will only remove the tick data that you see listed there so it should not cause any issues in that regard.
