Bar timer says more time remaining than the minutes in the bar

    Bar timer says more time remaining than the minutes in the bar

    The bar timer indicator sometimes says there is more time remaining in the bar than the time frame of the bar.

    Conditions:
    1 minute chart
    Indicator says more than 1 minute remaining

    In the jpg the indicator in lower right corner of price chart says 1:44.

    This usually happens as your PC clock is not in sync with your data. I suggest you try shutting down NT, syncing your PC clock, restarting NT and maybe reloading your historical data.

      Although I don't really like the fact that the system clock is used at all, given that it is it might be better to have the indicator display a warning saying "clock out of sync" during the times when it computes a time remaining value greater than the chart time.

        Depending on your data provider it may or may not use your PC clock. Please see the Help Guide article on historical data to see the breakdown on which data providers timestamp natively and which timestamp locally.

          It says Zen-Fire is native, not local.

          The bar timer may be providing an insight into things that you can improve regardless. In general whatever is corrupting the bar time is probably something that you don't want users to ever have to think about.

            BarTimer on my end shows 00:00:00 after markets end. When data becomes sparse, a timer for when a bar will end becomes irrelevant anyways because there is nothing saying that the next tick will come in within the next minute or the next hour.

              OK, but I think the bar timer issue happens both during market hours and after.

                I will need steps I can take to reproduce how you got it to that state. It may be easier if you had a chart with no other indicators to eliminate those variables as well. Thanks.

                  Here is a chart with just the bar timer indicator on it.

                  I didn't have to do anything special that I know of to reproduce time remaining > bar period. It just happens regardless of contract and time frame.

                  I updated my system clock time to no avail.

                    I will attempt to test this on my end today and will follow up with you as soon as I gather additional information.

                    Also when you sync your PC clock did you receive any error messages?

                        No error on the clock update. Hopefully someone else will report the problem and have more information.

                          Unfortunately when connected to Zen-Fire this data is Natively time stamped as apposed to locally on your PC within NinjaTrader. Therefore the information being displayed will be based off of the information being sent by your provider.
