    Limited Set of Symbols

Old version has bigger set of symbols pre-populated in instrument tab. With new V7, I don't even find very popular etfs like SPY, SSO, SDS...

Is that done on purpose? Why don't I see the original list of instruments (as in v 6.5) pre-populated?

    Thanks,

TraderSU, I just opened up my freshly installed NT 6.5 and took a look in the instrument manager and none of those symbols you listed (SPY, SSO, SDS) are present in a default installation.

However, I will forward this on as a request for more instruments built in.

Oh, then may be v 6.5 was able to handle any symbol automatically as I never had to add them into v 6.5 and was using it very often.

Guess V7 has strict requirements and need to add them using instrument manager before we can use it.

Thanks for taking this to dev team. This will be handy for everyone ;-)

TraderSU, yes you've nailed it. That's pretty much the exact reason why it doesn't happen automatically anymore.

And yes, I can't think of anyone who would be negatively impacted by additional symbols in a clean installation.

Yes, that is why I was not able to pull some microcap as well. Adding instrument pain but needed only once so not a big issue.

Guess covering everything with AMEX+NYSE+NASDAQ listed issue will be great for US customers. You can be creative with international users or may be come-up with bundle pack addon for various markets.

Or nothing will be required if we can have fall-back (similar to NT 6.5) mechanism.

What I've done is importing these lists ( AMEX, NYSE and NASDAQ ) It itakes some time but after that it is all available.
What is missing big time is however a proper import format for the instrument manger like in one list you could dump all the fileds of the instrument manger like currency, ticker and different mappings to different brokers or data feeds.
