Compiling Strategies - When are changes implemented?

Hi-

This is an order of operations question; when making a code change to a strategy that is already running, when/how do those changes take effect?

If I shut down a strategy but leave it on the strategies tab, will changes made to the strategy (save/compile) take effect the next time I enable that strategy, or must I restart NT for any of these changes to take effect?

1. Disable and remove the strategy.
2. Make your changes and compile.
3. Re-add the strategy and enable.

This will ensure there is no question that your changes will take effect.

Gotcha - this will 'ensure' that changes take effect.

Still, according to procedure and how NT is actually designed, when are code changes intended to take effect?

Furthermore, will disabling strategies and restarting NT achieve the same goals? It seems counterproductive to remove strategies, given that NT has not implemented an easy way to add back entire sets of strategies efficiently-

You will need to create a new instance each time by removing and re-adding the strategy.

NinjaTrader is not designed to have persistence unless a new instance is created.

Shutting down NinjaTrader would disable a strategy, however, the best practice there is to disable manually.
