Another bug with ninja

Okay.. here's another one. This one i think is important as well since it could screw everything up in terms of trading decisions to indicators.....

If you have your chart set to CME US index futures ETH, then you switch to CME US index futures RTH( this was setup on a volume chart on the ES, and this happened on the kinetic data feed), the chart doesn't show accurately the RTH, but instead shows when ninja started running. SO if RTH session starts at 6:30 pacific time, but i open ninja at 5:30 pacific time, then thats where the chart shows the open...

-So if you use volume bars, it's factoring in the pre-open session, you get completely different charts.
-If you use any type of indicators that looks for previous day OHLC, its get screwed up, giving you misleading data.


So it pretty much screw's everything up....

The way to fix it is to set it to instrument default settings.
If the chart was instrument default, then you switch to CME US index futures RTH, you won't have this problem.It only arises when you switch from extended session to RTH session.


Another reason you don't want to use ninja while its still in beta to make trading decisions...

I've posted a chart of the difference.
Hopefully they can fix this bug in the next beta release with the IQ feed problems.

Thanks for your post.

Please clarify for me whether your using the end-of-day Kinetick data or if you're a beta user connecting to the full version of the feed.

Likewise, please let me know which version of NT 7 you are running. (Help > About)

Lastly, please provide me with a step-by-step guide to reproduce this behavior as I have not had any luck thus far.

its latest beta version 17.. using beta user kinetick data feed. Ninja has backfill issues and can't correctly use IQ feed , so its pointless to use it right now with ninja.

As per the instrcutions, i clearly mentioned it above.
Change the ES contract to ETH data series from whatever its at, then switch to RTH(cme us index on both)....
If you then switch back to instrument default you'll notice that using volume bars, its very different. Becuase, even though they should both have the same start time(RTH and instrument default), they really don't.. RTH has its own start time..

Just to clarify, CME us Index futures trade from 9:30 to 4:15 during cash, with overnight trading resuming from 4:30...

I don't know what you cant reproduce it, so here's a video i've attached showing the problem. I even did a screen capture towards the end showing the difference between the RTH and session default settings, they should both be the same thing, but they're not.

playafh69, did you try re-loading the historical data when you noticed a discrepancy? To re-load, you can right-click on the chart and select Reload All Historical Data.

Ok, so I reloaded the charts historical data
That didn't work...


So i deleted everything again, including the ninja file folder in my documents which causes me to lose all data, uninstalled and reinstalled.....

Seems to fix the issue....

One other thing, after this uninstall, CME real time hour session at least starts off when you tell it to, but the cme rth default settings are still wrong...

CME RTH session starts at 8:30 central, not 8:00
So make sure you guys change that in the data manager.

Also, ran into another bug. If you hold down the middle mouse button while reloading charts, it causes it to crash. It should have something written on the trace file, ill send it to you

playafh69, please see the screenshot of my CME RTH session. I haven't changed these settings at all, so it lists the correct times. I'm not sure how yours shows the wrong opening time.

However, I was able to reproduce the middle mouse reload crash. I will pass along my findings to development.

Forgot to add, you can reset your instruments (and their associated sessions) by going to Tools -> Options -> Data -> Reset instruments.

I actually still have the bug... Even though my hours are set to start at a specific time, when i change from ETH to RTH, it still starts off 1/2 hour early..... my RTH setting are set to 8:30, still starts at 8 on mine.

The uninstall didn't fix the issue.

All i did was change the chart session from RTH to system default..... I will send you an email from ninja with the trace files and everything with ATT: austin....
