Chart not updating bars on new session

    Hi guys

I'm running beta 17, I'm experiencing an issue whereby my minute chart bars are not automatically updating at the start of a new session. Seems to happen on all my futures contracts.

So basically this is the scenario, for the current day I open a new ES chart on 3 minute. Everything is ok and trading goes through the day to session close no problems. Now the next day, when the session starts, the bars are not automatically springing back to life, the quotes are showing in the order panel on the right but the chart minute bars are not updating in the active session, this happens on all my minute charts.

I have tried reloading the data and changing properties so that it will refresh the chart etc. to kick it in to gear but nothing fixes it other than me deleting the chart and then opening a new chart and reselecting ES, at which point it loads it up as it should be with the bars updating along with the quotes. This can be quite a chore each day. Any suggestions?.

It seems to occur with both my Zen-Fire feed and my PFG feed.

Let me know if there is anything else I can send to help.

    Regards
    Ross

Ross, thanks for the report - what session templates were you using here?

So basically you left NT running overnight and upon reconnecting the charts did not pickup activity for the new session then, correct?

I believe we addressed this issue for our next beta already.

    Thanks for clarifying.

I just leave it connected all the time, so pit session ends and bars stop updating, then next day at start of session nothing happens, quotes in the chart trader show but the bars don't update. The session template is the instrument default for ES. CME Index Futures RTH but it does it on all my futures, also Nymex metals etc.

As soon as I get the new beta and can test i will let you know if it's working.

      Thanks for your help Bertrand.

Great Ross, this should be addressed with our B18 - looking forward to your testing.

Same Problem with B18: Chart not updating bars on new session

          Hi

I have the same problem with NT7 Beta18, that the chart is not updating the bars. Quotes in the chart trader show, also the indicator "jtrealstat" shows, but the bars don't update.

Yesterday the same happened and after deleting all temporary java-files and restarting the system it worked again. But today same problem.

          Any idea, please?

I am running NT in 32-bit demo-mode with Zenfire on Win7 Pro 64-bit.

Goodlife, which session template are you working with or would this be independent of the template chosen for you?

            Thanks

I am using 6E 09-10. Reloading the template did not help.

But following Your suggestion I loaded the FDAX 09-10 and the bars get updated well.

How can I fix it with 6E?

Edit: Just loaded 6B 09-10. Same problem - no updating of the bars, although the quotes show prefectly.

Goodlife, please try selecting for example our ETH or Default named session templates as option when you create the charts, out of the box the cash / RTH hours of the instrument are used.

Goodlife, please right click on your chart and select DataSeries and then change the session template for example to Default 24 / 7 and recheck the chart.

Ah, just found it. Now it's working. Thank You very much.

What is the difference between all these session templates? Is there any detailed description?

Great - you can check what session begin / end times for which days of the week the individual templates define in the Session Manager we have now in NT7 - Tools > Session Manager.
