    Cannot trade NG

    I am connected to IQFeed and then Zen-Fire.

    I get data for NG on the DOM. but not on my chart. When I try to trade it, I get an error about data not available for simulation engine.

    It appears that I get data from zen-fire (market depth on the DOM) but nothing from IQ. I changed my symbol for IQ to QNG and I have this symbol working on market delta so I know I have access to it from IQFeed.

    Any ideas?

    I get crude (QCL) just fine and can trade it.

      Thank you for your note.

      Try this as the symbol map for NG I was able to get data with this symbol map with the exchange set to Globex.

      +NG

      I received data for the NG 09-10 contract in NinjaTrader with this symbol mapping.

      Let me know if this does the trick for you.

        i"ll try that later. After the last time when I got that error, ninja said it had to shut down. i didn't shut it down and it appears to be working properly but I don't want to risk it while trading.

          Hello,

          When you get a chance please send a note to support at ninjatrader dot com through the Help-> Mail To Support feature in NinjaTrader and include your trace files so that we may look into the error message.

            QNG (I have to use Q because I have globex only, + is electronic & pit combined I believe) works fine with Globex. Which is weird cause for QCL I have Nymex. But it works.

            EDIT: Charting works but not the DOM. I get no data at all on the DOM.

              I get real time data on the orders tab and on the charts but not on the DOM. That makes me think it's a problem with zen-fire because the dom should come from zen-fire - I don't have level2 with iqfeed.

              when I put NG on the dom it just keeps the previous contract displaying without any movement..

                Hello,

                You need to reverse your connection order. If you connect to IQFeed first then it will not default back to the Zenfire connection for level 2 data since the first connection supports futures. To do this you will need to connect to Zenfire first then test to make sure you have the superDOM and then connect to IQFeed.

                Now, if you want your historical data from IQ Feed you will need to disable historical data on the Zenfire connection.

                Please confirm you have historical data enabled with the steps I have provided below.
                • Disconnect
                • Tools
                • Account Connections
                • Select your connection (Zenfire)
                • Change
                • Next
                • Historical Data-->Disabled
                • Next
                • Next Finish
                • Reconnect

                Now your will only get live data from Zenfire and all historical data will be retrieved from IQ Feed.

                  hi Brett this doesn't make sense because I get the DOM for CL and if I have access to CL then I should have it for NG.

                  I do not want to connect to zen-fire first because I want my chart data to come from IQFeed. I'm working with the bid/ask data and I prefer IQFeed's data.

                    Not necessarily as you can be paying for different services though IQ Feed.

                      Thanks for the offer. I just emailed iqfeed to check on my data and if it's ok I'll contact you. I guess it's an IQFeed problem. I thought that if my data didn't have level 2 that ninja would then use zen-fire data for level 2 on the dom. I'm not sure if that's correct.

                        man that was fast. IQFeed said I don't get level 2 for any markets. so i must be getting level 2 from zen-fire. so this doesn't make sense. It should be a zen-fire problem.
