Import esignal data

moonriver, as an easier alternative just connect to eSignal to download the data directly from their servers.

If you have data as text files for example, you can of course also import them via our Historical Data Manager if they are structured as outlined in the specs here -

Thanks for the links Bertrand, but I have several years of tick data to import and changing format by hand is a nightmare. Isn't there any tools, third party or not to get this job done. Since esignal is a rather big player in the data compartment, I thought somebody must have come up with a conversion tool. Thanks again moonriver

moonriver, I'm not aware of dedicated tools for this, normally Excel would be used for conversions of such files - most of our customers just use the server download option for historical backfill data from eSignal's servers.

If you're a programmer you could code your own text import type in NinjaScript / C#.

Hello Bertrand, since I'm not very handy with Excel, could you point me in the right direction of an Excel formula or how to use Excel to convert my data? Thanks

moonriver, unfortunately I can't give you a complete walkthrough however the import wizard tool would help to quickly import the data to Excel and from there you could work with it's various formatting / manipulation commands to convert as needed. A quick Google search also revealed some auto converter tools / plugins which should be of help.
