B17 Question when expanding chart & space to right.......

When expanding a chart the space to right is not always maintained ...can you reproduce this ??...

I use a hotkey to expand (Ctrl + left) & to contract chart (Ctrl + Down)...

This type of behavior can occur when compressing/decompressing the price axis. For a standardized margin between the real-time bar and the Y axis, you would need to define your margin using the 'Right side margin' property available in the Properties menu.

Yes...I have the right side margin always set in properties...55 bars in the video demo chart....it is only recently have noticed the right side margin is not maintained when expanding a chart...it will ocasionally be maintained for the first step of expansion...then goes haywire after that...often goes haywire on the inital level of expansion now....then you have to hit End to see the last bar on chart again...I do not remember having to hit end in previous beta versions to see the last bar on chart after expanding multiple levels........

Any feedback from other users on this ??...

Just tried expanding and contracting a chart with B15 on another machine and do not see the problem there...right side margin always maintained...

Could I have corrupt workspaces in B17 ??....or is this a new problem ??

Hi Alfred,

I still believe that the behavior you are seeing is expected. The button on the upper right corner in your video indicates that the chart has been scrolled to a different margin value manually - this value will not be retained, only the value set in the Properties menu should be used.

I have a margin set in properties in B15 & B17...am using the same hotkeys to expand and contract the chart in each version...the last bar on chart can always be seen and right margin always work fine in B15 as chart expands....this does not work like this in B17....after expanding you have to hit End to see the the last bar on chart and right margin now in B17....never had to do that before....I used hotkeys in the video to expand & contract B17...not manually...

Using those hot keys makes manual modifications to the compression of the x axis.

B17 is currently working quite differently than B15 for me...never had to hit end to see the right side of a chart in B15 after expanding with hotkeys.....have to use End all the time now in B17 after expanding in order to see the right side of the chart....

Just did a new workspace in B17....expanding the chart 1 level with hotkeys the right side is automatically moved to the right...the last bar on chart and space to right are not showing and you have to hit End to see the right side of your chart again....this is not the way B15 works....

Do you have a copy of B15 running that you can check this out with ??...I just do not see how you can call this expected behavior in B17 when they are working so differently....

Aha...!! ...found the problem !!...

Hi Josh & Kyle....

I discovered the problem (...!!)...I had reprogrammed in the Hot Key Manager the Bar Spacing + to Ctrl + Left....when I just now changed Bar Spacing +.... back to Ctrl + Down .... all charts work OK now to expand & contract....the right side of a chart does not disappear now upon expanding....should have thought of that before....evidently the HotKey Manager did not like Ctrl + Left for Bar Spacing + in this area....

Incidentally....I have often wondered if Ninja has an in house therapist to help you guys work so diplomatically with people like me....??

I'm happy to hear that you were able to find the critical piece and were able to overcome this issue. Interestingly, I am not seeing the same behavior on my end, even with the adjustment to that hot key.

Checking B15 again, in Hot Keys....both Ctrl + Down and Ctrl + Left work OK to expand a chart correctly....perhaps my install of B17 is a problem....will see what happens with a fresh install of B18 when it arrives...
