I understand as you have said before that you do not want users to be able to download more than one day of data at a time so as not to bog down the servers. This means you would not want people to be able to highlight multiple days on the calendar at a time.
Could you however make the market replay download dialog box stay open, so the settings remain persistent until it is closed, and make it display the download status if data is downloaded successfully?
Keeping the dialog open would make it easier to download multiple days, "one day at a time".
Right now as soon as you download one day of data the dialog box closes, and you have to navigate through the menu tree to open it again, and then you have to set the instrument name in another pull down menu, then set the date if you can remember which one you downloaded last. It would be much easier to be able to hit the calendar, change the date from one day to the next, and download again.
I believe your servers will not be overloaded. The reason for downloading data is to do homework, and people (including myself) do not want to do homework. Most people associate more pain with practicing a trading system than they do with losing money on a trading system that they have not practiced or proved will work. Furthermore the probability of downloading data decreases with practice time. First, there is a low probability that someone will download data, second if they do download any data there is a lower probability that they will practice with it and decide to download more, third, if they do manage to practice with 10 to 20 days of data, trading each day, analyze their trades, and repeat those days until perfection, there is a low probability that they will repeat that much work again.
Thanks.
