Delay of chart data on CL

    Delay of chart data on CL

    Using 7.0.0.15 and zenfire, i get real time data on the dynamic super dom, but not on the chart where there seems to be a delay even though I set the the time for 24/7 for session. This is for the CL contract expiring in August.

    To test this for yourself, create a new 3 min chart of cl, then bring up the superdom and see if prices match.

    This screwed up my trading since I was basing the trade off the chart.

    Thank you for your post.

    I tested this issue using 7.0.0.17 and the price in the chart matches the SuperDOM. Can you please upgrade to the most current version of NinjaTrader 7 by going to Help-->Download Site.

    Then if the issue persists we will want to investigate the issue further so could please forward your log and trace files to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com.

    Trace files will be located by going to My Documents->NinjaTrader 6.5->Trace-> trace.2010xxxx.txt
    Log files will be located by going to My Documents->NinjaTrader 6.5->Log->log.2010xxxx.txt

    In doing so can you please reference this forum post.

      Ok, I was able to upgrade to 7.0.0.17, and that has reduced the delay from 5 min to just 5 seconds, which is acceptable for right now. Thanks.

        Today it still seemed to be a lag on CL charts, but I have decided not to trade CL anymore due to this issue which may be NT 7 or ZenFire, who knows. I have other future contracts that are not lagging so I will trade those. I would suggest if you still want to test this issue on your side, see if you see any lag this coming Monday afternoon while the market is open on CL on the charts vs the super dom. If not, then maybe its only on my computer. Also, throw on a few standard indicators just to see if that is causing a lag issue.

          Can you please check the refresh rate you have setup on your charts? You can do this by bringing up the Chart Properties through right click > Properties.

            It says display update interval = .5 secs. The only other reason I can think I am having this issue is that I am choosing a contract that is too far out. For example using Aug expiration instead of July expiration.

              islandwizard, are there any other instruments that exhibit this lagging behavior? I just tested on both July and August Crude and didn't notice any delay.

              Could you try reducing that display update interval to 0.1 seconds and see if that helps?

                Just a wild guess here: what's the decimal sign in your computer's regional settings? Comma (,) or point/dot (.)?

                  I am not sure where the decimal sign is for Windows 7, but it says United States on my computer under regional settings. I used the July contract today, and did not have any lag with that one so far.
