Point and Figure Questions

I am on NT 7 Version 17 64 bit version. I have two questions regarding the point and figure charts:

1) How can I setup a box size for S&P futures for 1 tick or .25 of a point? It looks to me that the minimum box size is 1 point or 4 ticks.

2) I have added the standard NT volume up/down indicator to the chart and set the calculate on bar close to False. The volume bar does not display realtime data! When I switch back to a regular minute chart data volume bar displays realtime data. Why doesn't the volume bar display realtime data in the point and figure chart mode?

Thank you for your post.

1.) As it stands, 1 is the smallest value that can be used in the Box Size property. I will, however, forward your suggestion on to my development team for further consideration.

2.) You mentioned that you change this chart to use a minute interval and the indicator does function. Can you tell me which interval you are using originally?

Also, which data provider are you connecting to NinjaTrader?

1) Ok thanks for sending this suggestion.

2) I am connected to IB broker for data. The point and figure chart is using the 3 minute interval. But the time interval is irrelevant, even setting it to one minute interval doesn't make any difference.
The volume data is displayed for each column of x's and o's after the column is done and the next one is started. But the issue I am raising is that when volume indicator is set to "close on bar" False it does not display realtime data while the column of X's or O's is being painted.

When I switch from point and figure chart to a minute chart. I can see realtime volume data on the indicator. Which shows that I am getting realtime volume data.

1.) Just wanted to report that the Box Size property is configured in number of ticks, and not in number of points.


2.) I do not see the same behavior on my end - when I apply VOLUPDOWN to the 3 minute point and figure chart, I do see volume reported on the real-time bar. (see attached)

Please open a new workspace (File > Workspaces > New Workspace), then add a new chart there within. In the new workspace, do you see the same behavior?

1) Thanks that is great.

2) To clarify: Do you see the volume bar "move" (ie display each transaction) in realtime or do you see the volume bar paint an initial static bar, whenl the column of X's or O'x complete then see the final volume bar appear at that point?

I did what you suggested also, I opened a new empty workspace with one blank chart, point and figure setting and then added the volume indicator with same result.

I am seeing the same, but this is to be as expected since the volume in the data box does not change either.
