Cannot edit Ninja Script, B17

Hello,

I just did a simple install of beta 17, from beta 16, on windows 7-64. Now when I try to edit a strategy or indicator, I get the error message below, then Ninja says it needs to close.

I tested this on Windows XP-32 and it doesn't happen there.

Can you please try removing any custom assemblies you may have installed and then try bringing up the NinjaScript Editor then?

I don't have any custom assemblies.

Since this looks like an interaction with .net in some way, I asked support for a link to beta 16 to test whether it happens with beta 16. I was amazed to get the reply that beta 16 is no longer supported.

I really don't understand that decision. I now can't use NT 7 for any of my testing. I note that plenty of other people who emailed support over the last few weeks have privately been given a link to a previous version.

Right, I've fixed it. Uninstalled NT using control panel, deleted those files from bin/custom and re installed.

The purpose of the beta is not to revert back to older versions when something does not work as expected. The purpose of the beta is to iron out the issues on the latest version so it can be moved closer to a production release and as such older versions are not available. When we are able to identify a serious malfunction that would prevent operations we do on occasion give links to old versions, but for the vast majority of the cases they are resolvable and would not require a downgrade to old versions.

Hi Josh,

I appreciate that beta releases are just that - no guarantees, etc etc. However, the process is one of give and take. Because of the very long delay in bringing 7 to market, some of us are developing production strategies on 7 because we can't afford not to be ready on it when it goes live. That means that a situation like this, if I hadn't been able to resolve it, would have lost me at least a full day's development because it was a serious problem - not being able to edit Ninja Script. As I say, I understand beta puts no obligations on you, I'm just saying please understand my situation. I'm probably not the only one.

We do understand the scenario you have outlined. Should there be an issue unresolvable that prevents you from editing NinjaScript in the future we will provide you with a custom build, but this should be a very rare situation.
