upgrade to 7.0.0.17 didnt go as planned

    Hi!

Ok, so I was on beta 16 and just ran the upgrade as the directions said.

The log says: Failed to restore indicator...

    Any ideas?

    thanks

I had that issue previously and it was to do with a custom indicator I had installed. I am not an expert but I would suggest you open the NT7 folder in my documents and go to bin/custom/indicator and arrange them according to "modified". take out each one that you have recently modified or downloaded. Then try reinstalling, once 17 is up and running, attempt to put back the custom indicators you took out.

ps. might be safe to wait for technician to answer.

Thanks for the input raycam, trade.ripper - please try recompiling all NinjaScript files and then restarting NT7 fresh.

        Hi!

Thanks for the input! I tried to recompile, but I get an error: saying that the core.dll and WilsonOrMapper.dll could not be found...

You're welcome, please readd those DLL fresh as references as per here - then recompile by pressing F5 and the issue should be resolved.

            Hi!

Sorry Im a bit confused here...

All of the indicators that I am having problems with are ones that I have developed. So when I hit F5 to recompile, I get the errors. I haven't referenced any 3rd party dll files. So its not making sense to me how to refresh.

            thanks

The files you're missing in the refereneces are not custom ones, but NinjaTrader system DLL's that need to be present / referenced properly - and yes you would see the errors across all scripts, as all the scripts are compiled together into one DLL, thus all have to be error free.

                Ok!

I uninstalled and reinstalled everything and followed instructions assuming that I was on something other than beta 16 to start.

I ended up starting a new workspace with only 1 chart and no indicators. I still could not compile my indicator until I fixed an "error" in another indicator - which wasn't even in any charts. It turns out that the "error" was a call that referenced another indicator. I think because none of them were able to compile then that was throwing an error. I had to comment out the line and then recompile. Its like a recursive fake out error!

That is a real pain and probably something that should be addressed in future versions...

But things appear to be working now - it was a bumpy ride and not as smooth as you would probably like.

trade.ripper, great you got it working again - the behavior you saw is expected - all NinjaScript files have to be error free to be able to get to a compilable state - as we compile all those into one assembly file, this is not possible if there's just one erroneous script present. For the missing DLL's you had, those very core libaries that needed to present for all scripts to be working as expected, too.

Well the problem that I see is that the error really wasn't an error. Prior to upgrading everything had compiled just fine and there were not any errors. In this case, the script was simply calling another indicator - again no errors with the code. But because nothing was compiling, it was throwing that as an error. It wasnt until I commented out that line - calling the other indicator that it compiled and all of the errors were fixed.

I'm having the same problem. I click the add button in the references window another window opens asking me to select an assembly file. The NinjaTrader.Core.dll and WilsonORMapper.dll files are already listed in the reference window What do I do?

Bill, please remove them from the references list and then readd them fresh - then recompile via hitting F5 - would this resolve the issue?

                        Thanks

                          Thanks.
