NT7 Very SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW to boot

NT7 is by far the slowest program on my PC to boot. The sequence goes like this:

1. Click on the NT7 icon and within a minute I see the splash screen which then disappears.
2. 3-4 minutes go by and it must be loading in the background.
3. A voice will say "connection lost".
4. Another minute or two and the Control Center appears with the Mirus connection working.

In total, its a good 5 minutes from when you click the icon to when you can actually start using it.

This is an XP SP3 machine.

During the time when its loading in the background, I bring up Task Manager and ninjatrader.exe is #1 in memory usage, typically using 90,000kb.

Any way to improve this?

Please turn off Connect on Startup. It can take some time to connect to Zen-Fire and that adds significantly to your boot time if you have that set to startup.

I have noticed that NT7 is rather slow to load also. I was going to try doing an AutoConnect to speed it up, but apparently that is also slow. However, by not connecting on startup, 1) NT starts and initializes the database 2) Charts for the open workspace load - each chart loads data and calcs any indicators 3) On connect to data source - each chart reloads data and recalcs any indicators. I was hoping that and AutoConnect might skip #2, saving some time.

I have windows 7 and do not have connect on startup selected and it still takes several minutes to start and sometimes says "Loading Data..." and never loads even after 30 minutes?

Thx Josh. Yes, NT would naturally need to run chart calcs once it connects to a data-source and starts updating, but I was hoping to bypass the start-up calc time that occurs when the saved data is loaded on each chart before the data connection is made.

Unfortunately the calculations cannot be skipped as we would not know what the user expects. Some people use charting without connecting to their data provider. If the calculations were skipped they would not be able to see anything. I suggest you just have a blank workspace on start up. After you start up and connect, then open your workspace with all the charts you want.
