Stuck On Saving Data, unable to Abort

I've reported this since Beta 11, several times. Often when loading charts NT7.X will get stuck on Saving data, then only way to abort is to kill NT.

    Hello webart,

Could you please provide me steps that will result in the issue. Do you see any similarities between the occurrences?

To what connectivity provider do you connect when this occurs? What instrument and interval is selected in the chart? Do you have any indicators applied?

When I load charts in NinjaTrader 7 on my end, the requested data is loaded. Depending on how much histoircal data you request and the indicators you have applied, it can take a while for the data to be loaded.

How long do you wait for data to be loaded? Does it make a difference if you reduce the historical data request or the amount of applied indicators?

      Hi Jason,

I don't have any indicators loaded. I use TWS / IB, the issue is also present in GAIN as per my other reports.

It gets stuck on saving for hours, if you click Abort it gets stuck on abort.

No, I havn't tried changing the data my charts need to load, I just load the amount I need for history.

      Intervals are 3 Min, 15Min and 60min.

Can you please tell me what instruments you have selected in the charts and how much historical data you request as well.

Do you see any error messages in the Log-tab for the times the issue occurs?
Unfortunately we will need a reproducible scenario in order to further troubleshoot the issue.

FYI.. I've seen this quite often as well. Using IQFeed. ... loading 90 days of 5min data of equities.
If you hit the abort button it just hangs and you have to kill it ... In fact, I can't recall the Abort button ever working for me in any case (perhaps a different bug - but as far as I can tell the Abort button is worthless).
I can't tell when or why this happens -- as it always does it at some random time while loading a chart. And I don't see anything strange in the logs. I've let it wait for many hours with no change.

Please note if you are loading several charts on several instruments, pressing Abort only starts to abort the process for the current instrument. All other instruments immediately in the queue after it would continue. Furthermore, IQFeed would not have an Abort button on data requests to begin with. What version of NT7 are you on?

I had Zen as first connection and IQFeed as second connection - So I suppose it could be the Zen connection that is not aborting. I'm on Beta21

                foxthorn,

Zen-Fire would not have equities data so the data would be pulled from IQFeed. This scenario should still have no Abort button when simply loading data.

Can you please update to B22? Thank you.

                  Josh,

As I said I have both Zen and IQFeed connected... as an example, I have some futures contracts open in charts and then I opened market analyzer and had it load the S&P500 instrument list.

It indeed shows an abort button while loading the S&P500 list... and would you believe, when I hit it, the load actually stops. First time I've seen it work.

                  See attached pic.

I'm trying to reproduce the error case where the "Saving" and "Abort" both appear... I'm not sure what triggers it however it does seem to happen often.
What conditions cause the "Saving" message to appear?

                    Saving stuck

                    Josh...
I think I remember now what is happening... I believe the "Saving" issue happens when the connections are left running overnight.
I tried the following.... yesterday evening I had Zen connected first then IQFeed second. Had a few different charts of Futures contracts open then also had one 90 day 5minute chart of a stock open. The market analyzer had the S&P 500 list loaded and was linked to the stock chart. Last evening I could click on the different rows of the market analyzer and the chart would quickly update. Everything was fine. I left the computer running overnight just as it is.

Now this morning... first thing I do when I get at the computer is click on a different row in the market analyzer and now I see the "Saving" message (no abort option). And it is just hung there. The linked chart shows "Loading data..." in the upper left corner.

I'm using IQFeed 4.7.0.9 with NT beta22 and the IQF connection manager shows that it is active - in fact, I can go to NT and do File->New->Chart and open another stock chart without a problem.

                      Hello foxthorn,

Could you please download and install IQFeed client version 4.7.1.3 from the IQFeed connection guide below.

Please let us know if NinjaTrader continues to get stuck on saving/loading data after running NinjaTrader overnight.
