NT7-16 crash - disconnects, over fills, dialog boxes?

NT crashed this morning at around 05:20.

It had opened 50 dialog boxes and then hung. Windows had popped up a "this application has crashed" dialog over it.

It looks similar to this http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...55&postcount=8

I also suffered 3 over fills yesterday evening, which may be related, I don't know.

I attached the logs and traces.

Thanks adamus, we'll take a look - which TWS release version are you working with?

        adamus,

Please downgrade to the supported version of TWS 900. You can download it here: http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/su...ivebrokers.htm

I run IB TWS on a linux machine, so I cannot install from the link your documentation provides.

Nor can I find the old linux version 900 on the IB website.

Do you know of a website where TWS v900 for linux can be found? A third party website maybe?

Unfortunately I'm not aware of where the 900 Linux version may be still found - perhaps contact IB directly if they could make it still available?

              Hi Guys,

I managed to find IB's TWS 900 which I installed.

Unfortunately it then crashed last night leaving a huge java core dump.

I know when I speak to IB's support about this, their reaction will be "You should upgrade to the latest version" i.e. 905.4.

              So what do I do?

Does NT have a policy of testing and recommending newer versions of TWS as time goes on? How often would you do that?

I would like to know how long I can expect to remain on TWS v900, so I can decide whether it's worth doing a test to see for myself whether 900 or 905 is better - in terms of which crashes more often - TWS or NT.

This is exactly true, the version of IB that Ninja requires, is old, buggy and insecure, whenever I have a problem with it, the first response is that I must upgrade to the latest version.

I doubt NT would want use to run NT6.5.9 or NT7B9 for example, but unless we run the old TWS, NT will not support us.

It would make sense from a development point of view if NT tested with the newest version of TWS, ironed out the bugs and then released an upgrade to be used with that version of TWS.

If you leave it longer, the testing and fixing issues will get increasingly more problematic. I've been in this situation myself in my work in IT - it's not a good position to be in.

Thanks for the suggestions guys - we regularly upgrade IB connectivity to higher supported TWS versions as per our inhouse testings, however I could unfortunately not give you an ETA or cycle. When we update, it will be outlined in our IB connection guide found here -
