    drawing tool problem

I draw a trendline on a chart that's on a 120 minute interval. But then I switch to 60, 30 or 15 and the line is no longer creating a trendline. The line no longer sticks to the bars.

This only happens when I extend the line beyond a bar. So for example, the line could be touching 3 points on the chart but I extend it to the right, the future, and it messes everything up. Is there anyway to get the line to stick?

Also using extended line seems to work better but it draws lines infinitely to the right and left which clutters up the chart. I just want a line, slightly or somewhat extended to a certain point not to infinity. Any way to do that?

    Hello,

Thank you for your forum post.

Would like to let you know that I have experienced this on my side as well and have notified development to see if this is expected, and if so the reasoning behind it or if we have a bug here that needs to be resolved.

Thank You for your forum post and patience.

      Hello,

Here is what I have heard back from Josh our Product Manager:

This is Expected. When you draw an object from a higher time frame (5min) and try to switch to more granularity, it simply doesn’t have that granularity. The objects are anchored at timestamps of 5min granularity, but the actual high price could have happened on the 0:02 or 0:04. We wouldn’t know.

The slope of your line is determined by the anchor points with the info discussed above. As long as the anchor points are on the same timestamps, then this would be expected.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Well I have to say that kind of sucks.Any plan to fix that? It's helpful to look at a 1-minute chart to try to catch a bounce off a trendline for example--a trendline that developed over weeks or months and therefore drawn on a 30, 60, or 120 minute chart. I mean when you draw a line it should stay the same regardless of what time-scale you're using. I look at charts on many time scales all the time from 1-minute to 120 minutes or even greater. I must say this is disappointing. I hope you guys can fix it.

Yes it does suck but unfortunatley, there is nothing that can be done. Coordinate of drawing object anchor points are based off of price and time. If you draw on a 5 minute chart and the anchor sits at 9:05 AM, then you move to a 1 minute chart, that global line anchor point only knows of 9:05 AM. There is nothing you can do about that.
