Yes it occurs every time I tried to download tick data. Probably about 5 or 6 times.

I have a second machine for backtesting which runs Win XP so I'll try that and see if it also hangs on that OS. I'll get back to you later.

      Jason,

I'm testing it on my XP machine now and getting the same thing, so it's not just Windows 7.

At one point it actually looked like it was going to crash - it froze the video repainting on the control center leaving white shadows where dialog boxes had been. However it recovered.

At no point when I ask for tick data does it give a status message in the control center. It literally just sits there and never comes back.

It's still doing it now. It's trying to download 1 day of tick data, last trade (not bid / ask), and it's hanging.

The other difference might be that my HDM has 10 years of tick data for each instrument. Maybe that's the issue? I certainly takes a long time to process a click on the instrument node when in the 'Edit' tab. I'll just leave it now for an hour or so to see what it does.

Ok, I see. Unfortunately, I am still not able to reproduce the issue on my end.
I suggest to avoid loading historical tick data when connected to IB.

I won't be trying to load any tick data from IB - especially since I found out they don't provide it. There should be some sort of error message coming from the HDM to say that the download failed though.

            Hello adamus,

I will forward the suggestion to include an error message to our development team and ask them if they can add this to the list of future considerations of the software.

            Thank you for your feedback.

              Jason,

just a wild guess but could it be something to do with the timezone? On both my PCs my timezone is set to London/Dublin.

                Hello adamus,

I do not think time zone is related to this issue. My PC clock is set to US Mountain time.

When I tried it with PC clock set to London time zone, the issue did not occur on my end either.

Does it make a difference if you setup a different time zone on one of the PC's?

I think that would probably introduce bad timestamps into the HDM which I don't want to do at this point.

If I get the opportunity I may just delete all the data in my live machine and start from scratch, so I could try it there. I'll let you know.

                  Thanks
